PAPER topo maps pf DFW area lakes? - 07/17/20 04:41 PM
Looking for paper or laminated maps of the DFW area lakes. Specifically Benbrook, Eagle Mtn, Weatherford, and Bridgeport.
I know some company somewhere has these but I can't seem to find them.
I'm new to these lakes and need to do my due diligence and research.

Walmarts that have decent fishing sections will carry paper maps.
Academy Sports and Outdoors used to do a decent job of carrying the paper maps, but not recently.

Navionics did their own research and made some good ones. Dont remember which lakes in all but the gvine one was better than all but one I've seen.

I looked for maps a couple of years ago. I found a Joe Pool map at Bass Pro, and I think they had Grapevine maps then.. but that was a long time ago. The Navionics web app is a really good tool for me. Since the free web app doesn't give GPS coordinates, I use Google Earth in a 2nd window and make the features the same size, side by side. I get the GPS coordinates from my best guess of the location I'm seeing on the Navionics map, then load that in my humminbird. It gets me in the ball park on the water, and I hone in on the feature I was looking for on the water. I have done this on Joe Pool mostly, but have done it on Benbrook as well.

Like the prev mention. Android users can download the lowrance app which is pretty good. You can turn on location on your phone and it will get you pretty close. The grapevine map is actually pretty good on topo.. For free is always good. Don't see the old fold out maps much anymore, probably need to order.
I have used this topo to get me close on Murrell Point in the canoe.. You can even save waypoints.. Here is a screenshot of the map on my phone.. And it has all the maps you are needing..

navionics app on your phone is probably easiest till you find one or two you want to get more detail on.
