Flip flops versus tennis shoes? - 07/13/20 03:45 AM

It’s summer time. Do you give up safety and agility for open toe shoes?

Flip flops all the way. Tan lines to prove it.

No. I don't trust myself enough to not do something stupid

It would be my luck I'd be in the treble hooks right off the bat, so no open shoe approach for me.

If it's above 40 degree I'm in sandals when I fish.

these, best of both. if the feet get wet they dry fast and still keep the toes safe.

I'd say about 95% of the time I'm wearing sandals when its this hot out. And I usually take them off when I'm on the front deck band that grey carpet gets hot!

The wife got me some water shoes, similar to what hopalong has. They just slip on, are comfortable, have good traction on mossy boat ramps, and dry real fast.

Flip flops when I'm out fun fishing, Tournament fishing I NEED to wear tennies...the up and down, back and forth while wearing flops makes me a tired man.

90% of the time, unless at work, you'll see me in flops.

Some of you younger guys should not overlook the risk of skin cancer for the tops of your feet. You cover your head/face, hands, arms with protective clothing, then leave a horizontal skin surface wide open to the sun - doesn't make sense. This relatively new trend in open shoe styles may one day be looked back upon as the reason skin cancer on feet happened. A few decades will reveal the answer.

Om much more effective on yhe trolling motor barefoot.

So in the winter time i will leave my socks on, but as long as its 50F+, im probably.barefoot.

I always spray the top of my feet with sunscreen.

Columbia Drainmaker shoes, Keen Newport H20 sandals, or on rare occasion barefoot. cheers

Re: Flip flops versus tennis shoes? - 07/13/20 05:57 PM

If it's over 65, I go barefoot until the bottoms of my feet feel the heat, then Croc flip flops. Prefer tennis shoes, but my feet just get too dang hot. Never even considered foot cancer til now. Thanks guys, another thing to be worried about.

whichever allows me to easily kick them off when I'm on the front deck. Easier for me to operate the Ultrex and Helix barefoot than tennis shoes.

Re: Flip flops versus tennis shoes? - 07/13/20 10:56 PM

barefoot on my white center console once it's over 65. Course I have a rare disease where my feet burn anytime it's above about 75 degrees so all of us with this disease wear flops most of the year. In heaven I'm hoping I get to wear shoes again. That's the dream. Can't play golf, tennis, anything you have to wear shoes so fishing it is.

been wearing that type shoe on the water for years or cut tennis shoes out so they would drain. I don't want to be in the same room with myself after a day with regular shoes on and it is hot out, I gots da stink foot bad when they sweat.

When it's warm, I wear Under Armor slides till I get on front deck, then bare foot. Much better control of Ultrex speed control knob with bare feet.

He’s telling the truth. Seen the pics of him in sandals and a winter jump suit! laugh Sandals for me too...except well above 40! I like the summer tan lines on my feet!

Running shoes most of the year, but Keen sandals are good too. . Flip flops are for the shower at the gym.

Throw a wet towel over the trolling motor pedal and carry on.

No flip flops for me, two reasons, have drop foot from a football injury so I trip on things really easy, flops would make it twice as bad, also I have enough trouble keeping XD 6 and XD 8 treble hooks out of my shoes now.

I'm with you on being spooked by so many treble hooks lurking on the deck. My feet are tender and no match for those sharp hooks!
