Have not been during summer months in a couple years but what you are describing is typical Welsh summertime conditions. With what little runoff that lake gets it’s amazing that the ramp is even usable if the pumps still have not run given how low the lake was many months ago when it was still cool out and the amount of evaporation that occurs on Welsh during the summer.

Given that they got by without the pumps last summer I highly doubt they will turn them back on again unless we are in a severe drought. They showed last year that they didn't mind the lake being extremely low and were still able to operate the plant without the added water from Pines. No reason for them to spend the money running the pump if they don't have to.

What you "hear" is from someone that hasn't been out there and is just guessing and telling you. It is not choked out. It does have a ton of grass in it especially the north end but the lake is far from being "choked out".

The ramp is fine and very usable. If you have not been out there during the summer for several years now , why would you even make a comment on the condition of the ramp because obviously you have no idea what you are talking about. How would you if you haven't been out there. Fake information on your part.

Just wondering, do you work for CNN????

Easy! Did not mean(or say) for a second that the ramp “was not usable” Said “It’s amazing the ramp is even usable” given the low conditions many months ago that I encountered due to pumps being out. Evaporation in summer has required those pumps run often in the past. Just saying it’s amazing that the ramp is still usable....that’s all. Geez.....read, interpret and relax.

Well if you don't know for sure since you haven't been out there lately, don't speculate and lead people to the wrong conclusion. Your speculation is totally wrong. Geez......put out accurate information or keep it to yourself if you don't know.

BTW since you haven't been keeping up, it has rained quite a bit since earlier this year and the lake level is just fine.

Re: Welsh - 07/12/20 11:37 PM

There was zero speculation. I’m completely aware of the usable conditions of the Welsh ramp... and it surprises me. Why does that and everything make you so angry? Got an “empty back seat“ often huh?

Re: Welsh - 07/13/20 12:07 AM

Zero speculation,,,right... Well you are the one that said you haven't been out there in the summer for several years now and im pretty sure it is summer in July in Texas,,,is it not?? Heat index over 100 lately....LOL, I am not angry at all, just correcting your misinformation. Got an "empty back seat" LOL more speculation on your part. What part of me telling the truth about the ramp and the lake level make you think that I m angry and have an "empty back seat".

Are you just trying to keep people from going to the lake with your "false information"?? You must be angry with the truth.

You would be a perfect journalist for CNN...HAHAHAHAHA

Just for the record and everyone interested going to Welsh, the water level is fine and the ramp is very usable. If you were there earlier in the year when there were large ruts going down the hill from the parking lot, those have been filled and repaired. The road to the ramp and the culvert are totally repaired and that is the current condition as of this past Saturday (yesterday). My wife and I were there fishing.
Water temp was 96.8 so the breeze is very warm coming off the water so make sure you have plenty of water to drink during the day and plenty of sunscreen.

If you know the ramp has been fixed and you know about all the rain that has been filling the lake and the lake level is fine, why would it surprise you that the ramp is usable? What would cause it not to be under those conditions?

Re: Welsh - 07/13/20 12:49 AM

I am surprised that the Welsh ramp has been able to remain usable this summer with no pumping from LOP for months especially with the low conditions I encountered months ago. It’s a statement of my feelings. Not a statement of the lakes condition. Sir, you’ve got to get back on your meds. It might fix that “open back seat” for you too. wink

Re: Welsh - 07/13/20 01:15 AM

You are pathetic. Now you are speculating "again" that I need to get back on my meds. Is that because I am telling the truth about the condition of the ramp or the level of the lake and you just stated your feelings about it?. Did I hurt your feelings with the truth about the lake? Stating your "feelings again" with your statement fixing an "open back seat". BTW my boat seats are side by side, driver side on the right and passenger side on the left. Try to keep up and get your information correct.
I am finished with this useless conversation with you since you avoid reality and keep making ugly comments about me being angry or off my meds or can't fill a back seat. just because I am putting out the truth about the ramp and the lake level . So , I guess your "feelings" about something are more important to you than the truth? Is that it? You need help.

The main point is to let everyone know that is thinking about going to Welsh that the ramp is good and the lake level is fine, but the water is hot and that is a fact...not just a "feeling"...LOL

So, from someone who’s been on the lake, is there a good grass bite? Punching?

Hell, I live about a mile from the lake and I’ve never been on it. Been by it and looked at it, but never fished it. Too much boat traffic on the winter and too hot in the summer.

I like smaller lakes like Welsh and used to be Monti, but haven't been out there since April and grass was getting thick fast back then, Not a great lake for size, but has good numbers when you can fish it. Not sure where to fish this time of year though. The ramp has a curve in it side to side so best to go right down the center so your boat stays on the rails right.

I met a old man out there about 30+ years or so ago. And every 10+ lber he caught he would get his pocket knife out and carve a X on their forehead. True story.
Many years ago there use to be some very large fish in there. Back when the store was open at the ramp
