Carpet alternative - 07/02/20 08:55 PM

Have any of you gone to using something other than carpet in your boats? Do you like it? Pros? Cons? Thanks

I went with Safe Floor. I love it. Very easy to keep clean and comfortable. Life time guarantee. I put mine in my center console Skeeter that had just regular fiberglass floors.
It is hotter than carpet/fiberglass on your feet in direct sunlight.

Is Seadek noticeably cooler? Like fish barefoot in the summer cooler?

How much added weight did Safe Floor add? Size of boat and engine you are running?

I bought an intracoastal primarily for this reason. It's cool, easy to clean and easier on the knees! No way I'll ever have carpet again. I see a lot of folks using SeaDek.

I saw an ad for a Lake Fork area carpet installer now doing hydroturf

Saw an Xpress with it at Rayburn awhile back. Can the foam be ripped with hooks or anything, or is it denser than it looks?

Safe Floor for sure

I replaced the carpet in the floor of my Basscat with SeaDek and I love it. Cooler, dries instantly, easy to clean and much more cushion than 1 year old carpet. I bought a roll of SeaDek material and did it myself but I can't recommend that for most folks.

About 60 pounds added to the boat, maybe a little more. Didn't do a before and after weight. It's a 20 foot Ranger with a 225 yamahammer.

Have not had it on the water since I had it done last fall. Couple of guys are doing this out of Wylie area. $1800

A little hard on the knees getting in and out of the boat. When your boat sits out in the texas heat (under a tarp) carpet does not last too long.

SeaDek. I installed it myself in my deck boat. Made a world of difference. If the company doesn't have your boat template, you can make it yourself. I did, worked out great.

This is the company I used: https://scwake.com/about-seadek/
