Quote
Just got this pic from one of my son's, Landon and 2 of his buddies for many years spent the day fishing at Lake Alan Henry near Lubbock. Two Lubbock Firemen and my Son just spending time and relaxing during all the crazy days we are all experiencing.

Scale on the boat weighed in at 13.8 lbs...Big ole' Bass...The Bass are biting and I'm just happy to see this...….Hope it brings a smile to your face..

Re: Alan Henry 13.8 today - 04/11/20 08:36 PM

Beautiful Fish. Congrats to the Angler.

I was happy to catch a 5.5 lb largemouth off a bed yesterday.

Only my 3rd fish on that lake over 5 lbs in about 6 years of fishing it nearly 2-3x week from January thru hunting season.

Lots of small fish up shallow. Seeing lots of big fish cruising that are completely uninterested in amything i put in frony of them, but havent stumbled on a big fish on a bed yet.

Also watched 4 different boats in 2 days umsuccesfully fish for a 5-6 lber, and thats only the hour or so i was in the area.

Been fishing it midweek and you would think it was a saturday in June judging by the numbers of boats on the lake.

I’m glad you posted this. The mouth in proportion to his hand on the first photo seemed off and the tail fin seemed broad in relation to the body. All of it looked a tad questionable for such a heavy weight. Now this photo looks like a really big fish. I hoped they soaked it up. That must have been exhilarating.

Wow.... Missed everything else but the fish. You're right! I think we've had one pulled over on us.

One photo was posted by jerad pool who guides on Alan Henry with his dad. He guides in central Texas but goes up every spring and is there now. He posted it in Facebook the other day. The latest photo is the 13+ I believe from someone else

As it turns out, Ken MIGHT know what he’s talking about. The guide who posted the fish on his FB page said it was “almost 10 pounds.”

Who knew fishermen lied about weights? hmmm

All fishermen are liars except for you & me Jackson (and I'm not so sure about you) wink

Who on this board can honestly say that they’ve never stretched the weight of a fish a time or four? That’s a nice fish in any regard...why must we lie?

If you know the actual weight why stretch the weight? Never understood that. Caught what was my personal best a few years back at Ivie that weighed 6 lbs 15 oz. My dad asked if it was my first 7 lber and told him, still haven't caught a 7 lber. It is what it is.

I can honestly say, I will only state the weight that I read on my scale.

I also know that I can be nearly impossible to pinpoint weights of fish by a photo, so if someone tells me what their fish weighed, its good enough for me. If they are lying, that's on their conscience not mine. So I won't even call someone out because I think their fish is smaller than posted. Pictures can be deceiving at times.

I saw one swimming in the water last month. Looked like it HAD to be 10. Texted my buddy and told him I'd just seen a DD. I casted back and caught him. Weighed 6. I was excited but also bummed at how bad my size-o-meter was off....oh well
