Upper Guadalupe River - 03/31/20 01:11 AM
I fished the upper Guadalupe River, just above canyon lake this past weekend without much success. It’s a cool looking fishery with what looks like great habitat. Does anyone have any tips or experience for fishing there?

Haven’t been in a looooooog time but the few times I did we caught lots of small Guadalupe bass on the really tiny buzzbaits. 😎

Small baits typically are better

rooster tails, smaller jitterbugs, 1/4 oz spinners, 6" worms all worked good for me years ago, lived in comfort almost on the river and fished a lot of it.

I haven't fished north of the lake, but have fish between the dam & Gruene. My best bait was a brown/black 3/8 oz ballhead jig with a small beaver style bait as a trailer.

4”-5” curly tailed grub on a 3/16-1/4oz jig head. Any color....as long as it’s chartreuse! I’ve canoed/kayaked most rivers in Texas, Ok and Arkansas. This lure works everywhere. And yes it has worked well on the Guad.
