Shimano Reels - 03/21/20 01:23 AM

I got a new rod and now I need a reel. Its going on a 7' 2" H. Which one should I get?

Curado K
Curado DC
SLX DC

Open for suggestion.

Thanks!!

I bought a few of the Curado DC's when they came out and I love them

I bought 4 more of the SLX DC's and they perform as good as the Curados for a little less money

Chronarch. Same price as the CuradoDC....but better.

My reasoning? A 7’2” H is great for flipping, pitching, and punching. Those are close combat fishing. I have all of the reels you listed, as well as almost every other current Shimano. The DC is NOT a good choice for close combat style stuff. The Curado K is a decent choice, but the extra bearings, slightly better gearing, and better drag of the Chronarch make it a little more durable and a better match for a heavy action rod.

Excellent advice IMO. The “DC” is braking immediately, even when you don’t want it to. The Chronarchs that I have are older but they are built like a tank and just don’t have to be babied the way some others do. That being said... I really like my new Curado Ks. You can really dial in a Shimano reel to each specific bait, line and lure type. For combat fishing, Curado K or Chronarch will get you there.

In keeping with the combat fishing thought and this may be off topic a bit... What Shimano would be best for throwing a Carolina rig with a 3/4 oz weight??

low profile or round?

Low profile first, then overall what would be the better selection?

Thanks for all the input. The reel will be going on a Shimano Intenza rod so now the question is, Curado K or Chronarch? HMMM.

I’m a daiwa guy yet own both curado and chronarch and the chronarch is way better go with that the curado feels like junk imo
