What’s your favorite wacky rig bait? - 03/20/20 02:02 AM

Wacky rigging has been a staple for spawning bass for years and years. However, many still don’t fish it. In this video I break down my 3 favorite wacky rigs to catch bass. If you haven’t subscribed, please do so!

With that, what’s your favorite worm/color for a wacky rig during the spawn?

I like throwing a pink trick worm in ultra clear water. I also like throwing a watermelon red/chartreuse tail worm as well. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Thad...can’t beat a pink or merthiolate trick worm when they move up. That’s been proven time and time again!

Hadite...I haven’t used that color before. Do you use it shallow or deep?

Watermelon purple trick worm if I'm west of I-35 and the water is reasonably clear. Also been catching them pretty well on watermelon magic.

My favorite is watermelon red senko, when bed fishing white works also. I rig on a weedless porko hook.

Texan...I’m a big fan of the magic colors. I think they absolutely make a difference, especially if the sun is out.

Zoom Trick or Zoom Finesse in any color with lots of flakes in it since the added flakes makes it softer.

Wayne, is that shrink tubing? I rig my the same way in the middle. Does it keep the bait from sliding down shank?

I'm a huge fan of the yum dingers, especially that color. They've worked as well as senkos but they're 1/2 the price.

I like to wacky rig a Yamamoto Kuttail worm. I don't put it in the middle, more in the upper 1/3, seems to give it more action that way. Been catching them that way for a few years.

Re: What’s your favorite wacky rig bait? - 03/22/20 07:36 PM

My favorite and most productive 2 wacky rigged lures which work great during the spawning season or for highly pressured shallow bass are either a 5" Yamamoto Senko simply rigged using a rubber o-ring in the center of the bait and Trokar Weedless Wacky Hook or a Zoom 6.5" Trick Worm rigged with a 3/0 HD Worm Hook that is Texas rigged with the line tie buried in the center of the worm and the shank of the hook towards the "head" of the worm with a 1/16 OZ nail weight placed into the head of the worm just below the hook to help with longer casts and give the bait better action. I recommend using a 7' medium power fast action spinning rod with 12-14lb braided line attached to a 4-6' length leader of 14-16lb fluorocarbon line using a triple surgeons knot for the long casts and best results. Most of the bites will come on the initial fall or within the first few feet of a slow retrieve.
