If it had distinct markings they should have left it. Then we'd know the whole story after weigh in.

You would hope the game warden has a chat with the guy who caught it originally. I'm guessing he could shed some light......

Cheaters will cheat. TheY should require a live camera on tournament boats, and daily results are subject to review. They’ll still find ways to cheat, but at least you can eliminate the easy ways to cheat.

I've found fish in baskets before, and have seen lots of baskets placed in strategic places. Unfortunately, there are a lot more that get by with cheating than the ones that are being caught. Money and greed supercede the mind, body, and soul at times....at least for some. splat

So a 14 pound bass found tied up during a tournament and it’s not suspicious?
Don’t know any other reason it would be tied up.

No other reason? Have you never seen someone keep a fish on a stringer to take home and eat?

Maybe someone was going to take home and put in their pond. It's dumb to say the only reason it was tied up was to cheat.

Re: Lake Conroe 14 pounder Found tied up - 03/02/20 01:50 AM

14 could have just been a break off that the catfisherman happened to snag.

I have brought up some rod/reel sets before.

could have been someone trying to pull one off on big bass.

no one will ever know for sure.

The fish was found the day before the big bass tournament tied up off the bank. It didn’t have a chance to
Get weighed in. It was also the same fish caught a few days before. Think some of y’all are missing the point.

Some fishermen and they released it and posted the story on FB. I can post all the comments if you want. I screen shot them. I had Wawi post the original SS for me.

Re: Lake Conroe 14 pounder Found tied up - 03/02/20 05:16 PM

The fisherman who originally caught the fish could have put it on a stringer and the fish pulled the stringer loose.

I have seen anglers treat fish much worse. Like returning fish to the lake after weigh-in, and the fish float back up
and the angler walks away. Knowing dam well the fish needed to be fizzed. Luckly, this instance another angler
fizzed the 3 big fish so they could swim away.

Re: Lake Conroe 14 pounder Found tied up - 03/02/20 05:22 PM

the screw up is not calling in a gw, unless the fish is dying.

get them involved and maybe they can set up a sting for weigh in, catch the idiot and charge them with the felony it is.

if it looks suspicious, and this does, then make the call. not calling is how they get to cheat another time, maybe against you?

You do realize that this entire thread is pure speculation and that no one even attempted to weigh in that fish right?

Nobody had a chance to weigh it in. I think its funny a lot of you guys just think its normal to find a 14 pounder (previously caught and posted all over social media) randomly tied up on a stringer the day before a big bass tournament.

I hope that I don't fish against some of ya'll that easily come up with "other" reasons that a 14lb bass is tied up the day before a big bass event.

Kellisag,

Humor me batman. Show me where in this picture, it states that the fish was "tied" up. It just states they found it on a stringer. I have snagged stringers of catfish fish before.

Yep if someone had just caught the fish and was going to take it home what are the odds the person that caught it would keep it quiet?

It’s normal when it was caught by a cat fisherman from the bank. Pretty common for cat fisherman to use stringers.
Additionally, it was the guys PB right? It’s possible it was on a stringer so he can show it off more. Cat fishermen don’t worship at the alter of Bass like others do so he likely didn’t think to much about it.

Both perhaps more plausible than a cat fisherman posting A pic of his catch on FB and then deciding to keep it alive for a week to weigh into a Big Bass tournament that’s really not that big of a deal down here.

This post is nothing but people’s imagination and worship for a fish letting their imagination get the best of them. Absolutely zero facts support the narrative.

Catfisherman who originally caught it knows something or was contacted by someone. Still worth the GW having a chat.
