I think the stock transducer is the one to use.

The one that Scheels has is the 2019/2020 G2N SI HW Promo unit. It does not come with that transducer.
Helix 12 HW CHIRP MEGA SI GPS G2N.
It comes with the XM 9 1012 HW MSI T transducer that is special made for that unit.
Pay attention to the HW in the model's name.

It is HW CHIRP 2D sonar, not 83/200 kHz 2D sonar like the discontinued G2N models from 2017/2018.
The XM 9 20 MSI T is the discontinued unit's transducer. The 20 in the model name stands for 20 degree spec coverage for 200 kHz.

What does the HW mean or stand for? What would be lacking in this model vs the standard Helix 12 G2N?

I have the Gen 2 Mega's. Huge step-up from the old 1100 Birds! Enjoy

I am also curious about this, are we saying the included transducer is better than the normal g2n unit ?

HW stands for HIgh frequency (140-240 khz) Wide angle. It is dual spectrum transducer with a low Q value which translates to better separation with 2d returns, the transducer is better tuned for chirp units than the older dual beam 83/200 khz
