Nah he's still trying to figure out how to blame the "fillet every fish they catch LA anglers" for it. Cus he somehow knows without a shadow of a doubt EVERY fish he's ever caught in a tourney or while prefishing has swam off to live a full and healthy life... no delayed mortality there. Or eggs eaten while the male bass was taken away. Nope, never happened. Glad there is an "ignore" button as the junk that gets spewed from that mouth...

Impossible, fake news. Everybody knows dem cajuns done ruined Rayburn.

I better call my Podnahs and tell dem that they done missed a few to turn dem boats around, there is still work to ve done.

Re: 49lbs on Rayburn - 02/23/20 04:41 PM

There’s no doubt that they had the bag of a lifetime, they also only caught 5 keepers. There were only 8 bags over 20 out of 300+ teams. Flashback a couple of years ago and Champs had 50+ bags over 20lbs in a field of similar size.

Nobody is arguing that Rayburn is still a good lake and has put out some monster bags recently but overall it’s not the same as it was a couple years ago.

Pretty much spot on...Couple crazy bags in the last two weeks, but Rayburn is pretty much like always...16lbs to get paid and the bottom half of the standings 9-10 lbs or less.

Disagree though that it’s not the same as a couple years ago. That Champs event with all the 20lb bags fell on the perfect day in March, and if that same size field fished Rayburn this year on the same kind of day, I really feel it would be just as nasty. Don’t forget that every big tourney so far this year has fell a couple days post cold front..and it’s only February.

I've been on Rayburn since '98 and she keeps getting better. Curious on how the high water last spring (8 months over pool ) impacted growth or Bass natural survival rates?

Re: 49lbs on Rayburn - 02/24/20 01:30 AM

was not talking about the big fish that was weighed in, some body said something about high water & the bushes. if they let the water stay high it makes for a better spawn. 10 0r 12 years from now maybe a big fish. smart [censored]. by the way get another power pole on your boat so it will not look stupid.

The high water protects the big fish from being caught, it actually protects a lot of fish from being caught. Fish of all species so that food sources are better, spawns are better, fish health is better, etc.

Wired 2 Fish Link

Quote
The anglers caught just six bass all morning: their 5 "weigh" fish and one non-keeper Kentucky (spotted) bass. All of their catches came on two deep-diving crankbaits; a Strike King 10XD and a 6th Sense C20 on 16 and 18-pound Sunline Sniper FC Fluorocarbon. Iles also made sure to mention the importance of the rod they were using. A Power Tackle XLCP3 casting rod allowed them to reap the benefits of a flawless landing ratio.

Re: 49lbs on Rayburn - 02/24/20 05:06 PM

You guys don’t get too excited about rushing to Rayburn. Those spots (maybe brush piles) aren’t easy to locate. And there were 100 boats, over 200 good fisherman in the tournament who had 0. Maybe a bass or 2 but not enough to weigh. 😂
Posted By: Barrett

Re: 49lbs on Rayburn - 02/24/20 05:09 PM

We had 4 for about 10-11 pounds and threw them back because we are not fishing that trail. We missed a lot of fish on deep brushpiles which was surprising but all our fish came out of 25 FOW. We literally missed fish our first and second cast of the morning. Congrats on one helluva bag. VERY impressive.
