Not to start a huge debate, but Justin Furnace had a 61 lb 5 fish stringer on Camelot Bell a few years ago. Not sure what the Texas record is on a public lake. Butch Brown had 65 lbs out of CA. There are rumors Bill Murphy had 72 lbs out of CA, but there is no proof that I am aware of.

I know the 2011 Basschamps championship on Falcon had some huge sacks. I think it was 85 plus pounds for 2 days to win it.

Don't know about record weight, but March '09 on Choke was the craziest weigh in I've ever seen. Five bags over 30# and three sharelunkers (the real ones) weighed that day. Looked back and 38.82 with a 15.56# monster won it. 36.96 with a 15.20 slaunch got second. SECOND PLACE with 36.96. bang

Wasn't me.

There was a 40+ pound bag in a TTZ trail event on Lake Austin in 2011 possibly? Caught on an A-rig, I can't find the link for it though.

In a Sandy Creek Bass Club big bass event, our best 5 went 46-10 on Lake Austin in November 17, 2013. We had the top 2 fish of the event, an 11-1 and a 10-6. It was not a 5 fish tournament so not sure if you are counting that or not.

Charles whited had 44 on choke in a champs event. I've witnessed a 42+ on Rayburn. To do that on a public lake in a tournament is almost impossible. Lots of 50+ been caught on falcon fun fishing. We've caught 45-50 on kurth fun fishing back when it was legit

Happened twice, I think one year was 44 and one year 45? I remember second place 39

Re: 5 Bass Record bags at TX Lakes - 02/19/20 02:14 AM

Buddy and I had 47.12 on falcon in August 2009. We were just out fun fishing and weighed all them on a Cul-M-Rite that I had certified about a month before the trip. I've never caught and tried to shake off so many 7 pound class fish in my life. Ditch we found probably literally had hundreds of fish in it over 7 pounds.

Clarence Vaughn and Big Bob Ballard. were done before like 9 each day.

Trent Huckaby and Bubba Haralson had 84 pounds for two days in a Sun Country tournament on Alan Henry back in the day.. Didn't have big bass on either day.

Pretty sure one of the first BC on Amistad had over 40.

. Terry Oldham and Jaime Buitron had 45.52 on Falcon in January of 2012. Remember it like it was yesterday since they stomped our 43.80.

This would be awesome to see on a chart, the lake, the tournament trail and the heaviest weights ever.

Lee, was that a BassChamps?

I found this article, it has some huge weights for multiple tournaments.

Re: 5 Bass Record bags at TX Lakes - 02/19/20 12:01 PM

Robert Amaya that used to run the tackle shop in Zapata, put me on a small creek channel on Falcon in 2012. He tied us up along a tree line about every 10 or 15 yards, tied on a HUGE 50# flouro leader for my jig that looked like something you would use for a marlin, and just said, "better get em out quick cause there's some nasty stuff in those trees!" I caught 13 bass over 6 pounds in a little over 40 yards in a little over an hour. Best 5 went about 43 pounds per his scale. 2 - 9's, 2 - 8's and a heavy 7. Best hour of my life. Lost the pictures on my old phone when the dimwit at the Verizon store deleted everything by accident around 2014. Robert...if you're out there and have pics, I sure would like to see them again!!

40.28Lb Bag Weighed in on Sam Rayburn Day 1 of Texas Team Trail

Albert Collins and Clayton Boulware are sweating it out on Sam Rayburn today after catching 40.28Lb on day 1 of the Texas Team Trail event at Sam Rayburn. That’s not a typo! They caught 40 pounds of bass including a 9.47Lb as their biggest fish. Many believe it is only the second 40 pound bag to ever be weighed in a tournament at Rayburn. FLW pro, Matt Reed, made the comment on Facebook this morning that Mike Metcalf and ]Glen Kirk weighed in 41.76Lb back the early 90’s in an Anglers Choice event.
2. Dave Wharton was said to have a 42# bag on Sam Rayburn.
3. Most recently Anthony Sharp 40bs 6oz on Sam Rayburn.

I am sure there are many other great sacks that were never recorded across several Texas lakes. I find it interesting and motivating at the same time.

My good friend fished with Elroy on falcon for a couple years. He told me while practicing for a champs they had 51lbs with 3 over 10 including a 13. They were just checking spots, never stayed on an area.

Team at Palestine had over 40 pounds in the early Spring a few years back. Anchored by a 13+ pound kicker

I think it was at least 20 years ago, but I remember reading about a husband and wife team having 42 or 44 pounds during a tournament on Richland Chambers. The wife wanted to leave the spot but the husband was adamant about staying and waiting for the fish. Apparently when they did come in or start biting they caught that bag in a short time.

Fouz, three of Tommy Law's lake record would "only" be 46.89.

Thanks Walls. I meant 30 lbs on 3. Could have been 31. Thank you for correcting me.

May 2012 Basschamps was a three fish tourney. Partner and I had three for 26.55 (a ten+, 9, and a 6+)and were feeling really good heading to weigh in.

That was an awesome catch with the FMJ . I wish I had that kind of results with it. I think I have at least a dozen of them in Davy Jones locker lol.

I miss those times at LA. Our best 5 fish, non-tourney, was around 44lbs in 2013.

As far as 5 bass weights in a tournament. I'm thinking that got settled Saturday on Rayburn, in the TTT. 49.31 or so.

Wasn't in a tournament, but a friend of my dad caught a 5 fish limit weighing 49.6 at Ivie in 2012. They were back at the house by noon. Jerry from Elm Creek can vouch for it.
