Throwing a 6xd crankbait on a black max combo

Is the black max rod capable of throwing a 6xd crankbait that weighs 1 oz if the rod is rated for up to 3/4oz ? Would that much weight difference really cause a issue ?

No you won't have any issue.

The weight rating really doesn't mean much. Need to be more concerned with action and length.

black max are fine with some weight. They start running into issues when they don't have enough weight.

I think that it will overpower the rod in the sense that it would be hard to throw it for any length of time due to fatigue of the user. You can do it for sure, but it will wear you out.

i could see the tip breaking off on that specific rod.

I use that rod for everything under the sun. No problems yet.

Might be the best all around reel for the $$$. I bought one for my son and I liked it for crankbaits. Been fishing is for 3 years and not one problem. Good luck and don’t forget to post pics.
