SLX DC weight opinion - 01/30/20 09:13 PM
I bought the Shimano SLX DC and at first I loved it but now on I’m starting to feel it’s pretty heavy if your using it to throw long cast and crank all day. Would I miss the DC features if I moved on to a lews wide spool? Never used one before but I’m looking at my options. My SLX is on a st croix bass x rod

Looking at the reels on Tacklewarehouse and you wont' gain anything on weight. The Shimano DC weights in at ;7.6 oz. The Lews Super Duty Wide Speed Spool weights in at 8.1 oz. What you do gain is 6 more ball bearings on the Lews reel 'AND a ton of line capacity on the Lews as well. Hope this gelps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

I like cranking with a Daiwa Tatula CT. If you need a reel designed for casting control like the DC then check out the Daiwa Tatula SV TW. Only thing with it is that it does not come with a deep spool so check out the line capacity and see if it will work for you. The Lews Super Duty Wide Spool holds a ton of line and you can make super long casts with it, although Im not sure what weight reel you are looking for.
I use the Super Duty Wide spool for baits like the DD22 and larger. For everything else I use the Daiwa Tatula CT.
