Wow, probably hooked & injured by an angler a while back. Bass are amazingly resilient creatures. Great fish in bottom pic too!

Exactly what I was thinking. Couple of bad/negligent placements of piercing cull tags. Which would tell me that fish isn’t too smart. It will be caught by the owner of a filet knife at some point. Butter-face fish!

Same fish. Hasn’t hurt it from putting on weight was a short chunk....
