Cold Water Lake Reports.. lets hear em! - 12/03/19 06:10 PM

I know some of yall had to of hit some cold water lakes over the long holiday weekend.... where did you go and how did you do?

I only managed to fish one day, Saturday afternoon on Lake Worth from about 1:30pm till dark 30. Lots of trailers at the ramp when I launched but only saw 2 boats once on the water, that was a welcome relief. Water temps were 58-60 degrees but you'd have never guessed it by how aggressive the fish were. The best numbers day I've ever had on this lake and I fish it A LOT, boated 50+ fish in a little under 4 hours of fishing time. Lots of solid 1.5-3lb chunks with a couple pushing 4 mixed in. It was like a Squaw Creek day only there was no line, it didn't cost $30 to launch, I could stay as long as I wanted, and all 50+ fish were in less than 8' of water. roflmao

Also saw the results of the Black Friday Eagle Mountain tournament, 4 or 5 bags over 17 lbs and guys reporting 15+ keepers... pretty darn strong!

Only 58 degrees? Wow, still pretty warm for December. Can't wait to get my boat out of shop

Me and a buddy of mine went to Lake Somerville last Tuesday morning. The wind was kicking pretty good but we still decided to go to one of our favorite main lake spots. My buddy caught a 7 lber first thing in the morning and we caught a couple of 3 lbers as well as many smaller fish throughout the morning. We caught most of our fish dragging a Texas rig in deeper water. Overall, Lake Somerville is fishing great right now.

Fished half a day at Roberts, more just to show some lesser experienced folks the joy of bass fishing. Caught 3 , water was 53-54.. Kinda had a pattern that I just figured out, but no real time to exploit it.. isolated brush on gravel banks, had to be a lone stick up.. slow texas rig.. Windy as heck, 15-20 from the SW.. made for a bumpy ride from Jordan West across the Lake. What did you catch them on at Worth? Never been on the lake, thought I might hit it up soon..

Managed 4 at Ray Roberts Saturday morning, water temps 52-56 around Buck Creek before the clouds broke they were hammering moving baits, and jerk baits. The bigger fish had large black spots and one was covered in them.

Water was 57 degrees at my "home" lake up here in NC, fished a small tourney, got 4th. Was catching spots over 84 foot of water that were suspended chasing bait in 60 foot. Dropping a ned head with a zman streaks like a damiki rig, watching them look at my bait on 2D sonar. Caught about 30 once I found them

It's a whole different ball game up here! fish

Sam Rayburn was good to me over Thanksgiving week. 59 to 60 was the norm. I found fishing north of the 147. Caught them great two different days, schooling fish. Caught fish on isolated structure the other days when I couldn’t find them stacked up. Crank bait and swim jig mainly.

Took my wife to Ft. Gibson Saturday. She caught 12-15 good fish on a spinnerbait behind me and I'm still in a bad mood. Wish I had one of those eject buttons. [Linked Image]

Went to Fayette County for the afternoon over the holiday and found some in 12-19’ chomping shad around points that toe out in creek channels. Water temperature was 64 and there was barely a breeze. Caught them on cranks but it wasn’t super fast fishing. Quality bass though and a fun way to spend a beautiful day on the water.

Fished Lake Travis yesterday (12/3) water temp 61. Went out about 11 am to try and get a couple for supper. Caught 3 in 20 minutes at my regular spot. Decided to try a new spot just for heck of it. Caught 2 more with less than 10 casts. Kept 2 out of the 5 total. Great supper last night.

I hope this trend lasts.

How did the water look? There have been several reports lately of a water turnover and a possible fish kill that has kept me away.

Fished Lew for the first time in a couple months. Water temps 53-56 degrees. Was more of a BASS day than an MLF day - low on numbers but good on quality. I lost every single one of my fish but my buddy got all but one of his in the boat. Cranked the rocks and they showed up. Was a beautiful day to boot!

Fished Whitney last weekend. Water temps 57-59. Lake is low, but looks great. Fishing was surprisingly slow. I think we caught 12 fish all day. Not sure why it was so tough.

Water looked fine. Compare to most years, there seems to be fewer bait balls and considering the miles of shoreline that had dead shad piled up a couple of months ago, that might be the reason. Fishing is on and off depending on the day it seems. Slower than most years I’d say.

That's awesome, bro. She's got a keeper and so do you!

Good report, buda. All we've done is Squaw, where all the little ones just jump in the boat..... fish

Fished Texoma yesterday, temps were 55 to 58. We flat got our butts kicked... went with the intention of chasing smallies, ran all the best small jaw water we had and only caught a few, no size. After several hours of that we started just fishing instead of trying to target the smallies. Found the Shad to be LOADED up in the creeks 3/4 of the way back to the very back. I’m talking black out the graph loaded. Tried a few creeks with minimal success and again no size. I really think that cold front shut em down, at least it did for us, Texoma is typically pretty awesome from Halloween to tax day.
