Drop shot and cranks seemed to bring up the fish. No giants were caught, but a few slot fish were present. When you boat over a dozen fish in this cold and a few of them were in the 2-3 lb range that's a good day to me.

Went out last week and it was slow, caught a few on secondary points and one 5+ cranking the dam

Re: Grapevine Reports - 11/19/19 03:29 AM

I went Sunday morning (36 degrees at launch). Water temperatures ranged from 58 - 61 degrees. Most of the fish I graphed were suspended far off shore in 20' of water.

Several of the exposed humps were submerged again as the lakes has come up 2' in the last month. Water clarity is not bad.

I mainly fished off points with crank baits, swim baits and jigs without success. It was a beautiful day to be on the lake except for the slow bite which I guess is to be expected with the crazy weather we've had this month.

It sounded like the duck hunters were at war on the west side of the lake.

Hope springs eternal....I'll be back next weekend.

Tight lines.

Thanks for the reports fellas!

I would like to get out there one more time before it gets too too cold.

I really like fishing Grapevine from my kayak but seldom have a lot of luck. I know the fish are there as I have had a lot of luck catching bass there when catfishing lol. Caught a 5.5 on cut shad from the bank earlier this year. Also have caught them pretty often when throwing a net for shad... Lots of fish there it seems but I cant figure them out much.

We killed them all winter and early spring this year. Stay away by all means.

Re: Grapevine Reports - 11/25/19 11:39 AM

Fished 130 pm till 345 pm yesterday. We boated 7 fish, biggest was 17”.. no smallies or spots. Water temps were around 56-57 degrees. Started on a mainlake point with no success, headed to the very back of a creek and started catching some. Same 3 baits as always when temps get into the 50’s on the Vine, jerkbait, trap, and Talon Shindou. For a little over a 2 hour trip we did ok, the wife and puppy dog both had a blast.
