A LITTLE OFF TOPIC - 11/07/19 04:03 PM

Hey guys,

I'm gonna be purchasing a new to me boat in the next couple of weeks.. It won't fit in my garage and the HOA won't allow trailers, boats, etc. in the driveway..

Where are y'all storing your boats? What are y'all paying, things to be aware of..

I'm in the Anna area, so the closer to the house, the better..

Thanks!!

I had the same problem. Most storage places I looked at we're around $150 but I ended up finding a pretty nice one for just under $100. So if you see anything around $100, I would recommend locking it down

I currently have mine in an enclosed 12X30 unit with power and cement floor out by Ray Roberts. I believe it's costing 125 per month.

My advice would be to pay attention to the amount of space you have for backing into the unit. I can currently pull up straight in front and simply back the boat in which makes it easy to go out by myself. I had a unit where the distance between the buildings was a little too tight. This made backing my boat in a pain and pretty much impossible to do by myself.

Make sure you get concrete floor. Had mine in MCK for awhile at a place with a gravel/dirt floor and the unit held tons of moisture on wet year. Boat and other equipment took a bit of wear that year due to mold, mildew and staying damp all the time. I Store it out at Fork now for like $745 per year

Depending on price of boat... makes no sense to pay 100-150 month to store a 5k boat... that’s 1200-1800 year just in storage! Better off buying something to fit in garage, save storage money, and move!

Something to seriously think about. You can wedge an 18.5 footer into most garages. They are also going to be vastly cheaper than a 21 footer. Two major downsides though. My 18.5 footer only goes 64 mph vs 74 mph. Also, I tend to stay off big water in gale force winds with three foot rollers.

No reasonable decent storage near me. $165 a month. 20 minutes away. On the way to Lake Conroe. Plus not too far away to go get it for saltwater fishing. Super nice with concrete floor and drive. Also a place with two hoses to wash the boat and air hose. 12 x 34. I also store some other stuff there.

The ones around me for a $100 a month are trashy. Tin and 2x4 construction with a limestone floor that the rainwater can come into on a hard rain. Every time I look for new boat storage I want to get in the business. It’s a gold mine.

Mine is in a secured 13x40 that duals as storage for overstock for my business and mini boat shop for me. $449 mo , it’s high but we can get to it with our forklift so worth it.
