Big bass trying to eat the small bass and lure

I took my oldest granddaughter down to the pond this afternoon after school for a few minutes of fishing. Tied on a Rapala #7 minnow as I figured they would eat it up. She was having a problem casting so I made a cast for her and was showing her how to work it when a small bass hit. I handed her the rod to reel it in and in the process a much larger bass ate everything. She was hollering and then got it to shore.
Pretty amazing.

They will eat their own, seen it on lake waco and had good luck there on bass pattern cranks before

I fished an old abandoned quarry once . The best bait was live baby bass. Caught bass up to 9lbs

Amazing pic! I've actually had that happen, but I didn't land the bass. I was pulling in a little 8 or 9 inch fish and a 2.5 to 3lb chunk just slammed it a few feet from shore. I was pulling them both in for a bit, but I couldn't land the larger fish since I didn't have a hook in it.

That should be in a Rapala ad

That's so cool!! I've seen other bass chase a small bass hooked before but never had it actually eat it!! Such a coll story I'm sure she'll tell over and over again!

I have heard of that happening but never had it happen to me with a bass. They get really competitive. So big bass sees little bass being distracted with the minnow he cant tackle and rushes in and slams the whole mess... very cool.

awesome memory for both of you .
last year , I hooked a chunky 14" bass on a Senko , water was clear with about 4 feet of visibility ( i was fishing from shore after a day of working ) , as I am bringing it to shore , a giant bass completely inhales the entire 14" fish , I had a side view of the bass , easily 12-13 lber. Instantly , the giant bass spits out the smaller one , shakes it's head a couple times and slowly swims off . It happened so fast. Only thing I actually felt on my rod was a bending down of the rod for about 2-3 seconds . If I hadn't actually seen it , I would have NEVER guessed that a giant bass tried to eat the smaller one .
It made me think ---- in my 40+ years of bass fishing , I wonder how many times something similar had happened and I dismissed it as a snag , weed or something else .

Bass needed to be removed just removed them in a different way.

Awesome! There is a lesson to be learned here. If you are bass fishing and looking for the big ones... Throw a big bait.

When i say big i mean 6 to 8" full size fish replicas.

I have had this happen a lot on Fork fishing for crappie under the bridges post spawn. Big bass will hang out near the bottom and dine on crappie and bluegills. One year I had enough of the bass trying to steal my crappie that I got one of my live bait rigs out and hooked a bluegill on it, opened the spool, and engaged the clicker. It did not take long. It was not uncommon when I was a kid growing up in Wisconsin to have a big pike or muskie try to grab a panfish.

Side Note: Good Memories Made.

Once at fork I cast my lure in and felt a bite, when I got it in the boat I found that some tiny fish had bit it and got hooked then a small bass had tried to eat him and then a larger bass had eaten him.
