How many of you guys have a jack plate on your boat? I am getting a new boat with a Mercury 175 L Pro XS Four Stroke. Do I need a jack plate?

Yes. It will help a lot. Makes the boat easier to setup for best hole shot and top speed. Also makes the boat a little easier to pilot in rough water.

If you haven’t already ordered/got the boat. Insist on the 175hp. I have a friend that bought a new Z18 with a ProXS 175 and it’s a fun boat to drive. It runs 62gps with that motor(but no jackplate). A 150 is kinda sluggish on that boat.

The boat will have the ProXS 175 on it.

That boat, with a 12” jack plate, good prop, and a light load, should be able to hit 65.
