Fished my first and last one of these this weekend. Had fun fishing with my brother and dad. The people that fished around us were respectful, and we caught some fish, just slot fish or 14 inch unders.

I realize that it’s not mandatory to go, but sitting through that closing ceremony for the drawings was brutal. Whole thing could have been wrapped up in 20 to 30 minutes but Bob Sealy likes to hear himself talk and drag everything out. Maybe he’s a great guy but I’d rather not listen to him for two hours.

Congrats to the winners.

Caught fish in and around creek channel bends in 3-10 feet of water. Biggest was 5 lbs. Sunday was very tough, only caught 4 all day.

I would be curious to know how many people struggled to get bit. We fished all over the place and threw everything we had and it was absolutely BRUTAL!!!

I caught Fish each day. Not many 3,4,2. It seemed like you had to hit em w the bait. I practiced Wed and thought it was brutal and caught 4 that day.

Fork is always tough it seems.

I didn't care for Bob Sealys political rant. I fish to get away from all that but I guess that's how things are nowadays.

I murdered them this weekend. My strategy is to find out where the big tournaments are and then go some place else. Friday evening I had a public lake ENTIRELY to myself. A 15 mph wind, a tropical storm, and tournaments like these had everybody occupied I guess.

We had a great weekend. We caught 75 fish over the 3 days and the 40+ of them were slot fish. Legal or not, catching 4+ pound fish is fun! The bite was really weird all weekend long. Lots of nibbling and pecking. We caught every fish on a Carolina Rig. Early we caught them in 10-12' and about 11:00 we'd move out to 18-20'.

Congrats to everyone that cashed a check. The fishing was tough and the wind made it a little tougher. It sure didn't seem like a normal Big Bass Splash. It wasn't near as crowded as years past.

Good job Clint and Stacy. Not many people can cash that many checks. Definitely on the right pattern

Caught 100+ fish caught them just about everywhere from 1’-30’ of water. Was only able to cash 1 check.

Nope. I would have been happy with zero political talk.

From all the stories I have heard about this weekend, that event sounds like it was a true circus. Sunk boats, political rants, bending tournament rules.......I'll happily pass on all that.

Re: Sealy Results? - 09/24/19 01:24 PM

I stood by the weigh-in line for a bit on Sunday, and was blown away by the number of guys that were clueless. Multiple guys at the end of the hour, bringing in 13 or 14 inch fish. One guy showed up with three fish in his bag, not sure what his plan was but he was too late to weigh anyway, as it was after 2 pm.

I'm kind of curious, too. Was it related to the sport at least?

Said he didn’t understand the left and will be voting for Trump in 2020. Wasn’t more than a minute but wasn’t necessary.

Sounds like just knowing thy audience and I'm guessing many cheered but could be wrong. I hate the radical socialist left but also hate constant political talk.

Obviously. I don't mean he shouldn't do it. He should do what he wants. He can get up there and take a dump if he wants. And I can not fish his stuff anymore. And I won't.

Some might call that “pandering to their constituents.”

What was your primary technique?

You must have caught a bunch of slot fish if you only cashed 1 check. 100+ that is awesome for three days out there with that much pressure on the lake at the time.

Re: Sealy Results? - 09/24/19 08:43 PM

It has been several years since I have fished it but for 15+ years my father and great uncle met up there every year. Didn't matter what was going on in our lives that weekend was booked. We enjoyed the circus but never took ourselves serious. Made some great memories and rarely cashed a check. Got on the water late, wasn't going to run in the dark, got off the water early to miss the boat ramp chaos. Had more fun sitting at the truck with a beverage watching people back trailers and load boats.

I can imagine if your there to fish seriously it would be tough.

It was my first one and I stayed at lake fork marina, I had zero issues launching at 530-545 am or pulling out at 210 every day.

On the water it wasnt bad at all, I wouldnt even say I was around many boats most of the time. I guess I was in the wrong places.

I think there are a ton of people on here posting how bad it is just like when someone asks about xxx lake they say its terrible.. Its a sad day when fishermen are such jerks.

Not the best place for politics on stage at the tournament but at least he is right about who to vote for in 2020.

Please respond, I would love to catch just half as many you did. 50+ slot fish would be awesome. You must be a fantastic angler to catch that many with that much pressure on the lake.

I didn't end up making it, but my dad and a family friend went and they caught 12 fish Thursday, 10 Friday, 13 Saturday and 9 Sunday. 44 fish total and 8 of them were slot fish, 2 weighed in, 1 cashed a check and the rest were 1.75 and under. They fished exclusively moving baits. They were of course happy and surprised to catch 44 fish given the number of boats on the lake, just didn't find the right size of fish.

Caught 90% on a drop shot fishing off shore, only had 8-10 slot fish with the biggest being 4 lbs. most of the fish I caught were between 10-14 inches. I weighed in a few of the 14-15 inch fish and got bumped every time.

Re: Sealy Results? - 09/28/19 11:58 AM

From Thursday to Sunday we boated around 60-65 bass and probably lost another 20... majority caught on a drop shot and texas split shot rig. Few also caught on chatter baits/crank baits thrown on wind blown banks. We cashed two checks... 6th place with a 2.11 and a 3rd place with a 2.23... only caught 8-9 slots over the course of those 4 days... nothing over 4.5 pounds. Overall good weekend and to me it feels like there were a lot less boats on the water compared to other years, especially Friday.
