When to fish larger baits

I’ve stocked up on some larger baits recently. I can’t wait to try these new lures out. To me the best time to fish the larger baits is late fall and very early spring before breeding. Seems the bass love to hit anything that moves during this time to fatten up for winter and breeding.

I fish big baits all year. The water temp determines which type. When it gets in the 50's and lower, I throw the Hudd type baits slowly on the bottom. You are correct in that this time of year and the Spring can be awesome for big baits, especially those worked on the surface or or slightly subsurface.

Nice. I wish I had more discipline when it comes to glide baits. I have yet to catch a fish on one. Right now I have a Pizz Shadley hanging off a big ole Kistler with a shiny Calcutta Conquest ready for action but so far those fish haven't been impressed. It sure looks cool though lol.

That Pizz is a great bait. You just have to keep throwing it and varying the retrieve until you hit the magic cadence.
