Is this full enough?

Hey yall another question is this spool full enough because i was practicing and backlashed had to pull some line out then the line i took of tangled up so bad i had to cut some of it so with that being said is this fine or should i redo and add more line ?
And by the way im new to baitcasters because all my life ive mainly fished for catfish using spincast or spinning reels and this is the first baitcaster I've ever owned

You want it quite a bit closer to the top of the spool. I fill mine until I can just see a little bit of the spool. It's a feel thing. If you're having trouble with backlashes you can adjust tension knob or remove a little bit of line. Good luck.

Need more line... and just use any cheap mono as backing... tie any knot you want to main line, and just tie it where you will never get that low without replacing the good line.

When you are new to bait casting, try this as that is what the Red knob is for on the side of the reel.
- Tie on your bait.
- Push the button to see how it falls.
- Being New to it; if it falls to the floor, tighten the knob just a little.
- Try again and adjust again.
- Get it adjusted so the bait does not fall unless you shake the rod tip up and down.
- This is where you start.
- As you get better and better at thumbing the spool; you can loosen the tension a little to get a longer cast or pitch.

I fill mine so the line comes off in line with the line guide.

Make a long cast and then strip out 5 more yards ( I strip about 10ft) of line and then put some electrical tape around it, then you can re spool and tie to that line and only re spool the amount you can actually cast.

It depends on the line size. If it's 17# or heavier, you need more. If it's 10# or less, that's plenty.

Not enough. 1/16” from the spool edge.

Here’s a trick. Cast as far as you can and strip out about the same amount of additional line. Put a piece of scotch tape on the remaining line in the spool and wind the line back in. Over the top of the tape. Back lashes will be FAR less and much easier to get out if it happens.

Start with the Magnetic brake set at zero (least amount) ----
after going thru Donald's steps the you can adjust your magnetic brake even more to get good long cast with no backlash ---
reel fill is just a personal thing ---

Ideally you want less than half that space to the top of the spool. However you can readjust the reel to compensate.
