Perfect undercover Border Patrol job, you should recommend this to your management! I bet you would not have many slow nights!

Nothing. There's just a narrative that so many things happen on Falcon between bass fisherman and the cartel on Falcon. I can say I have never had an issue, and have been to Falcon many times. I would fish it at night, however, I've never really thought about it after a 12 hour day on the water there. I have my opinion on what most of these "encounters" on the water are, but it won't be popular so I'll keep it to myself.

Interesting. Everyone else gets off the water well before dark.. props to you if you want to night fish out there.

Re: Night fishing Falcon Lake - 08/01/19 03:12 PM

I've been fishing Falcon multiple times a year since 2006. I love the place but if you ever see me out on the lake after dark and I don't have boat problems grab me by the ears and shake for a while.

Nothing good happens on Falcon Lake after dark.

Re: Night fishing Falcon Lake - 08/01/19 03:40 PM

Green horn I will put it easy if you are getting “encountered “ at night it’s because you are running south bound money to Mexico or trying to hump dope to the United States . No issues fishing at night . Downtown Houston or the east side of San Antonio walking those streets . Talk about danger there . I almost had to shoot a guy after the cowboys game in Arlington that tried to rob me . That’s dangerous fishing at night is a cake walk .

Re: Night fishing Falcon Lake - 08/01/19 03:44 PM

Fouzman nothing good happens in Houston at night . Heck the Mexico VS USA game they hold in Houston the soccer matches . Talk about cartel and drug boys , felons , ms -13s , and real gang members they live in Houston . Houston is the gateway for criminal illegal aliens . Ain’t no criminal illegal alien on falcon trying to mess with a fisherman .

Re: Night fishing Falcon Lake - 08/01/19 03:50 PM

Actually, the entire southern border is the gateway for criminal illegal aliens. Run into them all the time on our place 26 miles NE of Laredo. But I get what you're saying about Falcon and cartel activity. That's why I chose long ago not to fish Falcon at night.

I've fished after dark in the Valeno a few times, but I stay off the main lake. Usually pack it up around 9:30 - 10:00. Just my personal opinion.

I don't think you've had to cut a gillnet out of your prop in the dark yet.

Jared is well aware of hazards on Falcon at night as well as day time fishing and trafficking. I'm sure at times his head is on a swivel and ears and eyes are wide open. A choice everyone will make to go or not. Stay safe my friend well see you in Dec.

So, yes you are right. Night fishing can/is great this time of year. I wonder how many of us can hire a armed escort just to fish. Come sundown I'm off that lake.

Exactly why you don't fish DOWNTOWN Houston after dark EITHER ……. neither place is really attractive after dark.
There are certain places you go at certain times and then there are times you just stay out of those places and let the roaches have it.
WHY press your luck if you do not have to ?

Love to fish Falcon --- but I'll do it in the daylight.
I want the US Boarder Patrol to see who I am & what I am doing

Re: Night fishing Falcon Lake - 08/02/19 01:34 PM

Any boat on Falcon after dark is going to, or should arouse suspicion whether it be good guy or bad guy!
I'm with the don't put yourself into a possible bad situation crowd if you don't have to.

Great fishing at night at Falcon. I'd continue doing it. Make sure you are carrying plenty of cash in case you break down and plenty of firepower in case you run into trouble.

Re: Night fishing Falcon Lake - 08/02/19 07:48 PM

Years ago we were staying at 4 Season's RV Park and I decided to go a little north and fish at night, set up before dark in cove on west side and started fishing. Right after dark I heard this roar and couldn't figure out what it was for a couple minutes then it(they) hit me...BUGs..BUGS !!! It was so bad that I had to quit and go in. Don't know if it's better south but those suckers really came out at night. Unbearable !

Well now everyone can stop giving you all their own safety advise and start worrying about wether or not they are paying you to fish on the clock! They’re going to worry about something anyway! JK. laugh Looks fun. Always thought about it but was always to wore out after a 12-14hr day on the lake. Also, thank you for the job you guys do down there! We “need you on that wall”! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hopNAI8Pefg

My hat's off to you FLG! flag texas Had you told us that from the start, my reply would have been different.

We've had BP out on our place NE of Laredo many times. Those guys are fearless, tough hombres. They call our area "the exotic" sector b/c most of the people they catch are OTM.

Thanks for what you do thumb

For each their own. Everyone can make their own decisions.

Side Note: I have fished Falcon a few times at night years ago and had no problems at all. If I was younger I would be fishing that lake more often.

Re: Night fishing Falcon Lake - 08/04/19 05:49 PM

Having up to hour intel, and situational awareness, and knowing the cavalry is a phone call away, is a lot easier than the Joe Schmo who just goes down there for the weekend a few times a year.

More power to our BP who have to deal with putting their lives on the line keeping us safe so we can go down there and fish with peace of mind. thumb flag

You can bet your [censored]. Night fishing on Falcon. If you don't get a visit from the bad guys. The BP or State would find you or be waiting at your launch site. Seen it a couple times. They know you're out there day or night.
