Florida Largemouth Bass fingerlings were stocked into Lake Grapevine and Lake Lewisville yesterday. Lake Grapevine received ~93,000 and Lake Lewisville received ~53,000 per a TP&W article.

It was just a quick press release that stated what I posted. It was from TP&W FB page

Does the restocking mean the lakes are low on bass population?

They were Florida Largemouth Bass. I believe some of the broodfish are from the Sharelunker lineage.

The practice of stocking FLMB is more to add Florida genetics into the existing population than to simply increase the relative abundance of Bass in a lake.

As far as the well fed sand bass , yeah they might get some as well as other predators, but with the high water the survival rate will be extremely higher than normal. Good time to do it for sure.

Yup now is a GREAT time to do this. The fish should have plenty of places to seek cover. And for sure its about adding the genes not that either lake is "low" on bass, they are not.

Yep. It's about introducing the genes, not increasing abundance.

Does this mean the genes in Grapevine are not as good as the genes in Lewisville?
