edit: the question said "best" - that is an expensive rod. I mentioned this one because it is very versatile, super light, and if a crawfish passes gas near your jig, you will feel it.

You would need to get more specific for me to answer that one exactly. People throw everything from really light to heavy shaky heads. For a good all around rod I would go with a Dobyns Champion 734C. It would be able to handle everything but could be a little hard on a really light finesse one. In that case a 733 or maybe a 703 depending what rod length you prefer.

I agree. A 3 power for the light ones and a 4 power for the heavier ones.

^^^^^my advice, as well.
*the Xtasy 753 or 754 if you want top shelf. I use the Xtasy 755 for 1/2-3/4 oz jigs and I am amazed with this rod.
