Anyone have the 24 volt Minn Kota Ultrex?

Anyone have experience using spot lock with the 24 volt minn Kota?

Ive had a 24 volt Motorguide on my champion 203 with two group 31 batteries for years now and I’ve never had any issues. This allows me to carry a spare in case something happens. So I’d like to stick with the same setup, I’m just not sure if the spot lock feature will drain two batteries too quick with the ultrex.

My buddy has one and he likes it. Maybe he will chime in shortly.

I have had my 80lb, 24 volt Ultrex on my 2010 Nitro Z-7 for 18 months now and use the spot lock all the time, all day and I have never had a low battery issue.

Never had a problem. I can't tell that my Ultrex uses and more battery juice than did my Fortrex.

I have one on my ZX200 Skeeter. Some problems at first but now it does great. The more I use it the more I like it. No battery issues fishing all day.

No battery issues here. Stayed locked on spots for most of the day in 20mph winds and I still don't see any reduction in speed at the end of the day. Just a 18ft skeeter but I've worked it really hard and it doesn't slow down.

Never had an issue on my Champion 193. Best investment I've made in a long time.

80/24 on a ZX225 for over 2 years now with no issues. The only time I wish I had a 112 is when I am skipping spots, but the 80 has never been an issue for spot locking or fishing in general.

3 in a row including currently. All 20'+ boats. Never an issue.

My 80lb Ultrex uses less current on an average day than my Maxxum did. It’s more efficient and uses only what’s needed to hold steady.

I have the 80 Ultrex on my 1994 P2, zero issues, love it

Well there you have it.

I also have the 24V 80 on a 20ft Basscat loaded heavy with tackle (LOL) and it pulls the boat just fine and I have never run down the batteries.

Same here on same boat. Can almost pull ski's, almost. Have never run my batteries down regardless of the wind.

I also have an 80lb Ultrex on a Z518...so you know it's got weight. Pulls it around no problem.

Went from a 12V motor to a 24V Ultrex last year on my 2007 175 TXW. No issues and the Ultrex is AWESOME!

Would I be alright with a 24volt on a 21ft. Legend with a proxs 225 ? I fish a lot and hard . It has a old MG 82 lb 24volt saltwater on it now , it does alright . However it is old and I feel you cannot compare it with a ultrex and the new technology .

Would you be OK...yes. But with a boat that long and heavier than an 18' rig, I'd be looking at the 36v Ultrex.

I agree with this. If all you want to do is go out and spot lock, the 24v is going to be fine and will hold you, but if you like to move around then you are going to wish you had the 36V. I went with a 24v on my 20ft Skeeter because that is what I had previously and didnt want to add another battery. I am still fine with my 24v and it holds its own on my 20ft boat, but there are times I wish I had just added the extra battery.

If you are used to the 24v already it will be about the same power. The spot lock is just more efficient then you constantly hitting the pedal to keep you in place. The real difference in the 36 and 24 is noticed when you are moving around, especially if you are jumping spots (or trying to get your line un-hung on a windy bank while trying to keep your boat off the shore).

24/80 Terrova iPilot on a 20 ft center console. Fish 10 - 12 hours and have never seen the battery level indicator get to even 1/2 level. On max power at end of the day it's still pulling like a mule.

A friend of mine has it on a zx 250 with only 1 problem be sure to get the 52 inch shaft .he has had the cable break 3 times because of the motor jumping out of the water in rough water when on spot lock .It snaps around hard searching and breaks the cable
