Which Lake would you go to?

Which Lake would you go to? - 05/07/19 07:04 PM

My son recently got out of the army so he hasn't got to fish very much. We are planning a trip the week of May 20th and have it narrowed to 3 lakes he would like to fish and was wondering which one you guys would choose? We are looking for numbers with an occasional big one mixed in more than 4 or 5 fish a day that are big.

Toledo Bend
Falcon
Table Rock

Thanks for you input.

Falcon. You should be able to catch them any way you want to.

Of the 3 you listed I would take Falcon in a heartbeat.

Tabie Rock. Smallies and largemouth. Beautiful lake. Branson for evening entertainment. Great restaurants.

Table Rock can be awesome around Memorial day, you can catch lots of fish. Check some of the local fishing reports there just to make sure it hasn't flooded.
If it has flooded then I'd be going to Falcon.

Do you guys know any good guides and places to stay at Falcon or Table Rock?

If Toledo you can also fish Sam Rayburn. Falcon would be a special trip though.

No guide needed at table rock in my opinion. Check out focused fishing guides videos for pointers.

I enjoy the challenge of figuring out the fishing, so Ive never had a guide at falcon either, according to James report the wind has been brutal down there for weeks. Personally I would go to Toledo even on a windy day you can launch and fish some place, Falcon you could be in your hotel for a week.

Usually stay at Oso Blanco at Falcon. It's in Zapata and right next to the county ramp. Have also stayed at Falcon Heights on the south end. Pretty cool place but it's a pretty good drive to anywhere other than the state park. I would look up Jimmy Steed or Matt Reed as far as guides go.

Have a good friend that is at Falcon right now and has been for several weeks. He is a very good fisherman who lives on Lake Fork. He told me yesterday that the fishing at Falcon right now is only fair at best and fish have been hard to come by. I would never try to discourage anyone from fishing Falcon but it is a long trip and probably one I wouldn't make right now. My choice would be either Toledo Bend or Sam Reuburn or maybe both since they are close together.

Good fishermen that are out there busting it are catching some good numbers with a few nice fish mixed in.. I am not sure what you consider a big fish, but I think a five or six pounder is a big fish.

Five or six a day.. Maybe not.. But it is possible.

The trip you described is what I wish for every time I go out, but rarely achieve.. If you decide to come to Falcon, stop by the store and I'll try and help shortcut you to your goal..

Good luck! wherever you go!
