BULK SPOOL STORAGE - 05/03/19 08:57 PM

Anyone have suggestions for a container system for bulk (1000yd) spool storage? Interested in both on board and garage storage...

my skeeter has a line spooling station built onto the underside of the starboard rod box. It is basically a long rod with clips to hold multiple spools of bulk line. I keep 5 1000 yard spools on it and a small tool bag has 15-20 filler spools.

Not a container, but I keep all of my line on a Spoolin’ Buddy.

I built a bunch of spooling stations and keep them under a bench in the shop, always Cary a couple of small spools in the boat [Linked Image]

I keep mine in the house so you dont have the temp swings, seems to last longer with out any problems.

I keep mine in my closet in Tupperware containers out of the light... I have several that are a couple of years old

Ditto. I try to always have (2) 1000 yd spools of a given lb. test. One goes in the boat, the other hanging on the pegboard.

In a box together in a closet inside. Condition remains better/longer than inside hot/cold garage.

Storage cabinet in my insulated garage. Winter rarely drops below 55, summers rarely gets above 85. This is not ideal, but good enough for one or two spare spool of each. If I were to purchase several years worth, I'd probably store them in the house.

An insulated cooler in the garage or a refrigerator. Heat and light are the two big culprits to line deterioration.

Spoolin' Buddy 15 Unit. Stays in a climate controlled, dark closet.

I store mine in the simms reel case, it has a Velcro divider system that works perfect for holding the sunline bulk spools. The compartments are perfect size as well to leave the spool in while you are re-spooling your reel, the spool spins freely with slight tension while down in the divided compartment. Works awesome.

I made this one and a longer version from 3/8 aluminum rods and 1” aluminum angle. Long one for storage and shorter one for the boat.
