Dropping Fork level - 04/14/19 06:22 PM

I'm hearing rumors about the SRA dropping Fork 11 feet to fix a couple of bridge turns. Anyone else heard this?

No I haven't heard nothing, but sometimes they gotta do what they gotta do.

Take a chain saw and make some new boat lanes.

definitely agree on the chain saw action.... if it's true... how many ramps will be usable at that level?

I see that they are planning on drawing down Toledo Bend for spillway repairs but haven’t heard anything about Lake Fork.

Buddy told me he heard the same back in Feb. He heard one of the bridges is being under cut, or something along those lines, and needs repair. He heard later this summer possibly. However, I cannot find a formal release that confirms these plans.

Heard some rumors about taking Rayburn down some to check the bridges as well. So far just rumors though

They would make a ramp. Would kill a lot of the economy there

Probably wont drop it but about 3-5 ft. I think they can fix what they need to with that draw down. IMO

Re: Dropping Fork level - 04/15/19 01:54 PM

Don't think they'd go down 11'. That would take out most ramps around the lake. Like Mark said above, I can see them dropping it 4 to 5' to do repairs.

I wish they would suck it down to 7-9 foot for a short period. I need to learn a couple of trails in the back of some things.

There was a feller over at Sandlin that also thought this was a good idea....
turns out - not so much of a good idea after all.

YUP! if you don't know what your doing and the tree is big enough, it can come crashing into or on your boat...you will either sink or get damaged

Think of how good the fishing would be out there if it was closed off for a year or more from being too low!!! Come on -11!!! banana

Re: Dropping Fork level - 04/15/19 08:53 PM

Rumor or not they have to fix the bridges so it will be a fact at one point or another. If the issue is left unattended then lots of problems will occur. Only question is... how much will they drop it and when.

I personally don't see them fixing it as it is but I am not into concrete.

Needs to be well after the spawn so the fry has a chance. Take away the shallow cover and they have no chance. Right now the turtles and gar are waiting on the fry. Sorry that is another subject.

Re: Dropping Fork level - 04/15/19 09:09 PM

I didn't know there was a problem with the bridges. Has this news been verified by anyone in authority ? Gar are everywhere. Some of the more prolific spawning areas are thick with them this year.
