Seaguar

Re: Fluorocarbon - 01/12/19 03:03 AM

I love Seaguar Tatsu but it very pricey. But since I've gone to braid w/leader on almost everything, a spool lasts a long time.

Ok why is Seaguar so good. I use cheap PLine from Academy and do just fine. Am I missing out on something??

As long as it's only used as a leader.....who cares.
Braid as main line.

Can only speak from my own experience, and maybe 2 bad spools, but when i tried out Pline i broke off more hooksets by a wide margin. Not sure if the line was more susceptible to knicks or what, but it was noticeably different how many times i broke off with Pline. For note, i do not use a palomar because of line burn and i dont put knots really tight when using flouro (i know those are 2 big causes of breakoffs). I know its more expensive but i have had my best results using Invisix

Sunline for my moving baits, Seaguar for flipping.

This on both counts.

I use both 100% floro and the coated. Since I started tying the Gerald Swindle knot I have had almost no line fails.

Re: Fluorocarbon - 01/15/19 01:27 AM

I use Seaguar Abrazix and Sunline Assassin-Both quality lines

That's also known as the Shark Knot, or Zona Knot. Although Zona goes 4 times vs 7. Good Knot, pretty much all I use for Fluoro anymore. This and the Shin Fukae for braid to leader have replaced the Palomar and uni/alberto-type knots for me across the board. Quick and easy to tie. I have tried the FG, too much trouble imo especially with smaller lines. On your couch it's not too bad, on the water it's a pita.

Shin's knot:

If you'll do your own "break test", you may find that neither of those is the strongest available.

Re: Fluorocarbon - 01/16/19 02:09 AM

Use to use seagar until I tried sunline

Re: Fluorocarbon - 01/16/19 02:12 AM

I've used them all... None better than Berkley 100% Fluorocarbon. It's all I buy anymore. I can almost never get my line to break when I'm hung up. I can pull my 21' boat with 15lb test and still won't break and never any issues casting.

Re: Fluorocarbon - 01/16/19 05:22 PM

I use seagur red label with plenty of line conditioner. Rarely if ever break off. 12, 15, 20lb mostly. It's cheap enough to respool often I feel I need to

Re: Fluorocarbon - 01/17/19 12:40 AM

Between those two I like Seaguar the best. I tried Sunline Shooter once and it broke on me three times the first day I tried it. I don't have any issues with Seaguar Invizx. I also like P-Line Halo but it has a little more memory than Invizx.

Re: Fluorocarbon - 01/17/19 02:07 AM

I use the 15 pd floro coated pline..I think Premium CX .Nothing smaller than 15, i will use 20 for some applications..I use for Finesse plastics and believe it or not cranks. NO issues breaking on hook sets..However i tried some 10 once and experienced that [censored]..I think either brand you guys mentioned sunline or Seagar suppossed to be better, havent got around to it..Tight lines..
