Is it a DFI engine? Possible weak battery or starter issue not allowing motor to turn fast enough to boot computer up if it only does it in cold weather.

Prime engine longer, to give more fuel before the crank.

I had a 2006 that also did not like cold weather. There are a few things I would do in the parking lot before backing it in that solved the problem.
- Turned Power on.
- Pumped the fuel bulb a couple of hard squeezes.
- Bumped the starter to a new setting with one turn over.
- Seemed to also heat up the mother board.
- Backed boat in water and put the motor all the way down. It needed that water to get to the water pump which takes about 30 seconds to complete the route.
- Hold in on the key and turn to first setting for 5 seconds. All dash gauges come on, choke is engaged and mother board is hot.
- Complete the key turn to fire it up; letting it idle until the motor levels out before backing off the trailer.
- No more problems the rest of the day. Motor always wanted to be all the way down to start properly.

Got the same engine in an 05 HPDI and you have to give it some gas while cranking, or start it right before it hits the water backing down the ramp. Only things that work.
Even giving it some gas it will generally spit sputter and die a couple of times.

I've tried everything Donald said above and none of them helped and pushing in on the key does nothing on a EFI motor.

Try either of those 2. Hope that helps.

Make sure the engine kill switch wasn’t accidentally pulled

I am sure you are correct; but if I left this step out it would not bust off.

check your cold cranking amps on your battery.....doesn't matter if your battery is new or not....if the cranking amps are under or right at what the motor needs and it's a cold morning, you could have issues

Make sure it’s in neutral. I had something similar happen with my mercury, I thought it was in neutral but had to kind of give it a giggle for it to engage, I had never had the problem before and haven’t had it since. Also make sure the buys on you battery are tight.

Not all batteries are created equal, even new ones. Might get it checked.

Check fuses. If it’s not even attempting to start it’s probably electrical.

On a Yamaha the first thing to check is the low-pressure fuel pumps. A known problem with the diaphragms.

My 2000 OX66 Yammie 150 is pretty warm natured too.. its a Florida motor so I'm not surprised.. smile I have been giving it a shot of starter spray for the first turn of the key and once it fires it fires all day long. I pop the latches on the cover, lift it up a few inches and spray at the intake cover for just a second and bada bing.. Doesn't do this so much in the summer, just in the winter. I have replaced the low pressure fuel pumps but that was a different symptom. I know this isn't the real fix to the problem, but what I do to go fishing.

Go buy a new SHO and wait 6-8 months to get it.
