Just curious, what customizations would you ask for?

Al Seidler in Richardson. He has been making custom rods for 50+ years. He has the old school attitude of doing it right or don't do it.

Cooper Custom Rods in Red Oak. He does great work. He repairs my more expensive rods after I rough them up too much.

Sounds like you just need to go to southwest service in Dallas. They carry GLoomis, Edge, Falcon, and the higher end Diawa and Abu. Look on their half price rack and bring cash....and haggle.

FYI, Al Seidler is the one who does all the rod repair for Southwest. He has been doing their work for 10+ years. There is a reason.

Go to Lake Fork and see Ron Grantham of Reel Time Rods, his shop is at Pope's Landing on the west side of the lake on Hwy. 17. Turn east when you see the car wash. Gives you a good reason to go to Fork.

No clue Al was still doing this, he did some work for me years ago and the rod is still being used today. He's very set in his ways but again does perfect work

Cody in Weatherford makes some awesome rods. He was doing rods exclusively but has started painting lures also. He was working on some custom rods last time I stopped buy.

I have built a couple of high end bass rods for myself. After you buy all the premium components and spend about 25-30 hours building it you will have a better understanding as to why the good rods are $500. roflmao

You sure will! It will also open your eyes to the rods on the store shelf that are way overpriced. Many of the rods on the shelf have less than $50.00 worth of components and are sold at a 300% to 400% mark up.

for (1) #10 guide - the one on the left is $3.79 (Black Alconite) and the one on the far right is $19.59 (Titanium Torzite)
A rod could have a set of guides worth only $20 - $30 bucks versus one with $200.00+
