Lake fork blues - 07/07/18 05:02 PM

I'm out on lake fork right now and I've never been good at fishing offshore so I'm trying to learn. I'm marking fish but I can't seem to get them to bite. Help!!

Are you sure you’re seeing bass? Can you take a pic of your graph (no gps).

The pics won't upload but they r little dots within 2 feet of the bottom. The most I saw was around 7 or 8

25-29 foot off main lake points .... 10 inch worm, c rig, drop shot.

We had over 40 yesterday up to 8 lbs

Try casting from different angles. As a matter of fact....mark the fish and cirlce them stopping at increments to fan cast at them

Drop shot and big worms on shakey heads.

Tried this today it’s a little hard to do when you have no ultrex 2kids to watch and
That wind. We caught 2’7s between Thursday Friday.

Didn’t get on the water until 1 but managed 15 or so with three between 6 & 8 lbs. All on c rig flukes on a 5 ft leader in 18-22 fow. It’s been a timing thing. Spot I am hitting has been best 2-5 lately.

Check out Mark Pack's facebook page. I think he's on them out deep.

What time of day are y’all getting your bites? And what time are y’all moving deep?

Sorry to tell you this but it is best during the hottest part of the afternoon. It’s been this way forever on Fork.

My last trip with Eddie Garrett we had a 9.45 and a 10.20 but it was 4pm and blazing HOT when they bit. We caught some fish earlier off several deep spots but nothing over 4# until 4 pm. It was downright pleasant until about 3pm. We had clouds and a nice breeze. But the bigguns didn't bite until the sun popped out and got hot.

I’m feeling the Fork Blues as well. Definitely marking bass in different locations anywhere from 18-30 fow. I have yet to catch an offshore bass at fork. I’ve probably tried 3-4 different times since I got my boat. It’s become very very frustrating. I’ve found some decent shallow water bites in the evening but I’m really wanting to learn the deep bite.

Re: Lake fork blues - 07/18/18 01:28 PM

Definitely feel the pain...Went with a guide yesterday who has been killing them deep and then the day I show up, they aren't biting anything. On top of several good groups but they had lockjaw. Not even finesse stuff would work. Some days are diamonds and some days are coal. Go figure...
