Beauty. Very, very well-built boats.

Horsepower is overrated, but you will need a TM at least.

I'm thinking a flashed SHO would be a great fit.

Re: New charger 198 - 06/15/18 03:07 AM

Looks nice, but I don't think that one is going anywhere very fast with that setup

Re: New charger 198 - 06/15/18 03:18 AM

It would look better without those 3 green dots...

Re: New charger 198 - 06/15/18 03:22 AM

Needs an Ultrex and maybe an optimax

Wow they actually built one, thought for sure this model was never going to happen.

That thing is sweet. You are going to love it. I wouldn't trade my charger for anything.

That’s the best “new” thing to hit the market, that champ hull is ideal. Rated for a 200 od 225?

Re: New charger 198 - 06/15/18 05:04 AM

In my opinion, charger should dump all of their other production efforts and focus soley on really getting this champion hull line up out on the market. Price it right, and they’ll sell like hot cakes. I don’t care about the “dots” on the side, if it’s built well, which I believe it is, they’ll sell.

225. The 210 they build is supposedly a little faster than the champ 210 so this one should be also. If it will do 71-72 on tourney day I figure it will be a hit.

The 596 is their best rough water hull, most folks have never seen a 596, must less been in one, although the 210 is a good one also but not 596 good. 496 is a good one too but not at all fond of the 396 or the 797, they could sure dump those two..
I've been running Chargers since 1993, currently own a 596.

Charger, and I agree with NickHasty but I guess how sales go will determine that. I've already seen some of the 210's on some of the lakes I fish, can't say that I've ever seen a 396, 496, 596, or 797 in my area and I don't live that far from a dealer Blakes boats.

Please no. I’d take my Charger 496 over this 198 or 210 all day every day. Nobody knows because they spend $0 on marketing.

Is that boat considered 20' ~ 19'-8"?

BTW, they don't even have it posted on their website yet.

Blake's boats has three 210's on his lot for sale, I will ad pics as soon as I can get them. One has a 2018 Pro Xs and the other two are waiting on the new 250 4 stroke motor.

Re: New charger 198 - 06/18/18 04:01 PM

Does anyone know the exact reason why Champion boats went out of business? I can understand other brands, but it seemed like Ranger, Champion, Nitro, and Skeeter owned the market through the 90's and early 2000's. Are these boats supposed to be 1 for 1 identical?

Very close to identical, few upgrades to the topcap. Champion went under because of bad management and then got bought out by genmar (or was it platinum equity), who killed them off all the way.

For guys that have never owned one, you just don’t understand the cult following until you drive through some whitecaps.

Re: New charger 198 - 06/19/18 04:00 PM

Had two Champions and loved them both. Last one I had to sell to pay for a divorce to keep my kids. By the time I could afford another boat they were out of business. Bought an early model Legend and can't tell the difference in the two. Not looking to buy another boat but if I was it would be one of these. Dot's or no dot's that green one would look nice behind my truck.
