What is your favorite braid in 50-65 # test? Fishing frogs and punching grass.

Daiwa Samurai and Sunline FX2. Only two that i like and trust. Tried Power Pro abd Sufix. Not a fan.

Stren in 50#. Used it on Amistad during the tall grass era and never broke a fish off. Pulled tons of big fish up from 30 ft. through the tall grass with no problems on the Heavy Drop Shot. I like the smaller Diam. line and the way it lays on the reel. Stren also holds it's color better than some of the others.

I'm a fan of Power Pro. Never had an issue with it.

Re: Braided line - 05/26/18 02:56 PM

Never had a problem with regular power pro around thick vegetation

I do prefer the superslick in more open water and below the surface moving baits like crankbaits/jerkbaits/spoons

832 use it with 10lb on spinning outfits and love it.

Re: Braided line - 05/26/18 07:47 PM

Power Pro super slick 8. It's quieter. 65lb for frogs.

Fins Windtamer 24hrs a day, 7 days a week

Re: Braided line - 05/26/18 09:56 PM

Daiwa Samurai was the best braid I've ever spooled up. I've used suffix 832, power pro, power pro slick, seaguar smack down, and spiderwire

The old Lynch Line, older than the ills, but one of the first and best. Unless the wind is blowing over 10-15MPH. It is so limp it catches the wind bad, but it is the best, in my opinion. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Anyone use fins 40G braid? Thoughts?

Re: Braided line - 05/27/18 02:06 PM

I have tried a bunch of them, Sufix 832, Daiwa Samarai, Spider Wire and I keep going back to the regular old Power Pro green. It holds the color better than the others and comes off the spool well.

Re: Braided line - 05/27/18 02:14 PM

Suffix 832 is as strong as I've found. Lots of braids are strong but once they come into contact with wood or structure they break down. Zero issues with 832 since it came out.

power pro max quatro is smaller diameter than regular power pro I use it exclusively for frogging and flipping.

Sunline FX2

Re: Braided line - 05/27/18 03:46 PM

Sunline FX2 does well for me. Prefer it over the Power Pro and Spider wires I have tried.

I am tempted to try it but I've had such good success with regular PP I guess I don't want to fix what isn't broken to me. I am going to hold out for transparent aluminum. Supposed to be 100X stronger than carbon fiber and completely invisible in the water.

I think Fins is more of a saltwater thing.. Never hear about that stuff on here.. With that being said, I have Fins Windtamer on every one of my reels. Love this stuff! Can't comment on the 40G but the Windtamer is great! No complaints for me

That's funny. I like both the PowerPro and the Sufix. Did you have an experience with a bad batch of line maybe?
