Northern end of Lake Grapevine

Has anyone ever been up there for fishing? I looked at some of it on Google earth...but I've never ventured up to that end to fish, I usually head south on that lake. Is it worth to check out? Looks shallow and muddy on satellite imaging

Small lake. Run up there and fish. Dont like what you see, you only wasted 10 minutes.

What interest me about the North end is Denton Creek. Learning to fish the large creek and river system that feed a lake is a lot of fun and can be done much easier from a smaller boat at least until the learn the system. Then if need be you can also learn the access route from the main lake through the silted in basin to get you into the creek system itself. You will want to spend the day with a smaller boat just as soon as you can make that happen. You want be sorry. Spend the whole day in Denton Creek putting in at the boat ramp as marked on your paper map and Nav. Chart. The water is always clearer and deeper up the creek than it is at the mouth of the creek where it runs out of the basin. Shallow water and muddy water will keep fisherman from making the journey. Go fishing first to determine the quality of fish up the Creek then learn the route to get out to the main lake as you will have to make that run from the lake if you fish in a tournament. This is not going to last long as the water falls out on all city lakes fast. Target any lay downs off the bank first; so you are going to be on the move working the bends in the creek and the mouth of any feeder ditches and or drainage’s. Gouges in the bank and visible rock with wood will also be good targets. When you develop the pattern, the fish in the whole creek will be holding on the same features all up and down the creek banks.
