Anyone still fish these, going to try them out again this weekend. Have not used one in about 20 years.

Predecessor to the senko. Senko works better.

I like the action of senko more, but from what I remember slugo is heavier and may skip under the bushes a little better

One of the most innovative lures of all time.
Sometime this Spring, try letting one sink to the bottom in 3-6 feet of water and c r a w l it along.
You’ll need heavy line for what happens.

Completely different baits.

I like the action--fluke/senko type action with a faster fall.
The different plastic formula they use for Slug-Gos takes some getting used to (can tear significantly where the hook enters the belly)

I agree. A Senko is not like a Slug Go. Completely different actions. If a Slug Go is a predecessor of anything, it would be a fluke.

I still have a big bag of "Golden Shiner" Slugo. That bait was a game changer on Fork when it first opened under the right conditions.

I still have some Berkley Power slugs.
The side to side action of a Slug-Go was unmatched until the Big Eye came along; so I changed over because of the eye. I was at Lake Baccarac during the hay day of both baits. We took 25 packages of each and barely had enough to finish out 5 days of fishing. Caught our biggest fish before daylight one of those mornings on a Pork-O out of the jar.

Absolutely... black and gold flake is hard to beat.. some of the biggest fish I’ve ever caught came from Monticello and LOP on sluggos
We used to use a pink slug-go on Amistad back in the 90s, caught some good uns!
Used to Carolina rig them in my younger days. Loved them.
I still have some, but would take forever to find them. They used to catch fish. I doubt they still make them.

I know exactly where a pack is that I had as a kid.

Yep, this right here. During the spawn a black and gold flake Sluggo is a killer especially on Fork. The sluggo was the predecessor to the Fluke. I would stick a 1/2 nail in the nose of it and it would really jerk and flop around.

Cabelas Ft. Worth has a small selection.

Barlow's in Richardson has a huge selection; including the giant nine and twelve inch versions.
They also have a good selection of the Fin-S-fish, swimmin ribster and other Lunker City lures.
Lunker City has been a very innovative company.

I still have a couple of black and gold flake Slug-Gos. Lol. I too caught a ton of big bass with them at Fork back in the late 80's and early 90's. (The good old days of Fork)

Re: Slug-Go - 03/09/18 06:50 PM
that's a great post spawn color. I forgot about that one...
...so.,.,
If they "caught fish" in the 90s ..... wouldn't they still catch fish today ?

Re: Slug-Go - 03/09/18 07:40 PM
they do
Since I had quit fishing by the 90s I never got the opportunity to use one
I will this weekend though --- maybe the 90s fish won't tell the others about Slug O

If you catch one of those 90s fish it’s gonna be an elephant hawg.
Great jerk bait. There was another one that came out around the same time called a chatterbox. Same size and action as a slug-go or fluke but had a chamber for a round rattle in the belly.
