Cold front and cold rain

Cold front and cold rain - 02/28/18 12:44 AM

With lake levels here in N E Texas high and full of cold rain water how many weeks will the spawn be delayed ( assuming we now have our normal spring weather)?
I think fish will move in several weeks later than usual.
It will take several sunshiny days and some warm nights to bring us back to "normal".

Not much delay at all if any. They have spawning on their minds. Don't overthink it. These fronts affect us more than the fish sometimes. Lakes are already in mid to high 50's. Things are lining up. Go fishing and catch a bunch. Might not be able to sight fish but there will be fish on beds VERY soon.

When it rains and it's 65 to 70 outside will this make the lake temp colder

I agree with the fellas. I think the front and rain funked em up just like any swift patter shift would (couple days max) but their clocks have been ticking and they are primed. If the big girls go early like folks say they do then they are there now or just about to be. I haven’t been doing great but I gotta keep at it. Time to whack some donkeys.

Look back a few posts.
There was a guy on Fork that caught a 10 on sunday that had a bloody tail.
If you wait for perfect conditions, you'll miss half of it.

They are coming first big wave will be pulling up this week or weekend with full moon coming up. Dirty water warms up very fast with sun only need a few sunny days ahead of a full moon to get em going.

The only handful of fish we found monday were in less than 3' of water. Big ones too, and in NTX

Average water temp about 54

Full moon is tomorrow. Biology will tell the fish it's time to make babies.

fish have been bedding for weeks now. btw, bloody tails on females are not from "fanning" a bed; the male does that. its from bacteria deteriorating their slime coat from laying on the bottom.

Should be a very productive spawn this year
Water temps are already in the upper 50s with all the bank and then some vegetation flooded
The water level at some of the lakes I fish is above the shallow boat ramps
