What will fit in your garage?

I'm finally in the market buying my first house and, the boss lady says I get my first bass boat after I buy her a house. My problem is I want a 19' boat, but all the houses we've seen so far in our budget have 20' garages. What's the point of living a block away from Lake Conroe if you have to go to storage every time you want to hit the lake. Are there any boat/trailers that are more compact in terms of storage. I know the swingaway tongues can take a foot or two off, and the motor trimmed down. I measures my dad's Triton tr186 and it is right at 23' with the motor trimmed down with no swingaway. Even if I were to add the swingaway, the way the trailer is made, it would only give me a foot of extra clearance. Anybody have a 18'+ boat in their little garage?

A basscat will probably be your best bet. The motor is kind of inset in the rear of the boat. I have a pantera 4 in my standard garage. You have to hold your mouth just right but she fits. Rear rub rail rests against the house. Motor trimmed down in a niche space at the back of the garage. Swing away tongue with the brace taken off the back of the garage door. Was a pain the first couple times. Have some lineups and blocks laid out now that make it easy. Sure is nice having the boat at the house.

You can find storage lengths of all boats online. From What I saw I wouldn’t be able to get an 18’ ranger/skeeter/or Triton to fit in the space I have.

Or you could set one at an angle across both bays. Seen a lot of guys do it that way. I was just informed that if the boat was going in my wife’s car would have to go in too haha

I've always kept my vehicles in the garage. Tree limbs and hail can do some real damage.
Boats, always outside but covered. Have you considered a car port?

I have a standard 20' garage and my Champion 193 fits in there just fine diagonally. It's roughly 23' in total length with the tongue folded. Get a boat with a single axle trailer. When the trailer jack clears the garage lip, put her down and push her in the rest of the way. Takes some practice but it's well worth it to have your boat covered.

You can build a nice little metal canopy for less than $2k. Invest in your a good cover and you're good to go. Also, if you have the room to do it, build the canopy where you pull through it from the backside and not have to back in every time.

Mhall...I've been doing a LOT of research on this very thing as I'm dealing with the same exact issue. If you want the boat to go straight in, NOT take up two parking spaces, NOT build a storage cover outside, or knock out some dang walls...Basscat takes up the least space of all the "major" brands. Because of the way the tongue is made on the Basscat trailers it breaks off almost even with the nose of the boat. Most other major brands don't and that can be another 6" to a foot and a half. One other item I am considering (and I'm sure I'll hear from the naysayers on this) is to go without a jackplate. They add anywhere from 6" to 10" to the overall length of the boat. I realize it will impact the performance to a degree, but I'll trade another 1/2 second slower (or more) hole shot and 2-3 mph (or more) top end to be able to park my boat AND keep all my equipment in my boat in MY garage any day for that inconvenience. But...that's me.

I use to fit a 20'2" Nitro 911 in a 20x19 garage. Swing away tongue and an 10 inch plate. Had to be just right. Would figure Conroe has alot of the 3 car tandem garages.

Had a buddy who got go jacks to fit his 21 ft Ranger. His garage was wide but not deep, 20x24 I think.
