need help from swim bait users - 02/13/18 09:54 PM

I'm thinking about buying a weighted hook mold for swim baits and I cant decide on the mold
w/ 1/16,1/8,3/16,1/4 weights
or w/ 5/16,3/8,1/2 weights
What are the weights you use w/ a swim bait that will go on a 5/0,6/0,7/0,and 8/0 hook?
thanks,Steven

Personally, I would go with the lighter weights. I typically use a 5/0 or 6/0 weighted swimbait hook. I prefer 1/8oz, 3/16oz, and 1/4oz.

Lighter weights for shallow fishing around docks, grass and trees. I use 1/16 to 3/16 for these. Basstrix type baits. 4/0, 5/0, 6/0 hooks. 5"-7" hollow bodies.

If you're looking at deep water swimbaits, I'd go with 3/4oz. to 2oz. molds. 6/0 to 8/0 hooks. Solid bodies. 5", 6" and 7" are my most effective.
