Fishing Rayburn near Twin Dikes - 11/15/17 03:06 PM

Now that I have a better idea about running the lake from Twin Dikes I am wondering if it is worth trying the Alligator Creek and Tiger Creek areas or to just focus on Five Fingers instead. I have only ever fished around the 147 bridge area and from my research it looks like most folks fish 147 bridge north and maybe down to Five Fingers but don't see much info on the South East area of the lake. Taking my dad, who is getting up in age, so want to get on some fish if possible. Not fishing a tournament so catching numbers would be better for this trip.

Thanks!

If you're just trying to have your dad catch some fish, you don't have to travel far. You should be able to stay down in that area of the lake and do fine. Beat the banks down there with topwater early and late. Fish points and humps with a C-rig and/or shakey head with a trick worm on the business end in between. Don't get fancy with the color, anything green pumpkin or watermelon should work. You should be able to scare up a few largemouth early and late and catch spotted bass in between. Good luck to ya'll. Tough to get much info on that lake even when there aren't any big tourneys coming up.

Will be glad to help. Sending you a couple of spots to try from my mapping work. Hope they help.

I was out there this past weekend. If you want to just catch fish hit the points and humps across from TD in the farmers area. I was catching from solid fish over there up to five pounds. I was catching them on rattle traps for number but the bigger ones came on a frog. Winds are going to be shifting Saturday also rain take care and be safe if the wind get up to the 15mph sustained you might want to launch somewhere else. Crossing the lake right there can get hairy with the wind and might not be comfortable to your Pops. Good luck shoot a Pm if you want any other locations

Thanks Donald and Bigfish! Usually don't like to ask for help like this but who knows how many trips together we have so figured I would reach out to the fishing family here on TFF!

I am worried about the wind so will play it be ear when we get there on Saturday. Better to spend a while trailering and keep it safe.

I would stick to five fingers and north, maybe farmers as mentioned. If you trailer, you can get to Sandy creek or caney both within 30 minutes

With the forecast for Saturday I'd stay away from running anything main lake unless you're experienced on big water or have a big boat.... preferrebly both. Anything prefront front on Rayburn from SW to NW gets nasty especially down south. To be safe I'd launch in either caney and fishing caney to little caney, launch in five fingers and don't leave, or launch at Powell park and fish north along the west side of that entire arm.
