I just purchased a 2012 four stroke 70 hp Yamaha, any suggestions on what gasoline or octane rating to run in this .Also what’s the best fuel additive, thanks for your help

When in doubt always use mid-grade. Additives are like Ford or Chevy. You can use Yamaha ring-free or 28 others. I prefer Sea Foam because it does everything that the others do + it is a real good fuel preservative. Keeping fuel good for 3 years.

87 octane( maximum 10%ethanol) and 1 ounce of Yamaha Ring Free per 10 gallons as insurance. Though the ring free isn't required per the owners manual. If you don't use the boat often, then sea foam or stabil 360 marine is a wise choice to stabilize the fuel a little.

Just run 87 in it.. Sea Foam in everything I own. Stuff works miracles

I run super in my F70 with seafoam addidtive. Mine's a 2013 and has been getting fed the same combo all its life. Runs like a top.
I could be wrong, but I think my owners manual calls for minimum 89 octane.

My 13' SHO calls for 89 octane. I ALSO run ethanol free 87 octane in my older Mercury motors. Haven't had ANY fuel related issues in motors/fuel lines/bulbs etc for over 2 years.NO PHASE SEPERATION/MOISTURE collecting problems!!(knock on wood)!!! It costs a little more per gallon, but, its WORTH .25-.40 cents a gallon more, to NOT have ethanol issues. I run 89 octane non ethanol & Yamaha Ring free & Stabil 360 in my SHO 250 Yamaha & use 87 octane ethanol free with Mercury ring/carbon additive & Stabil 360 in my Mercs. I ALSO install & maintain fuel/water separator filters on ALL my boats.
Lookup pure-gas.org app on line. All U.S individual states & Canadian Locations. Find Tx at top of listed states & click. It gives all locations in each state that sells ethanol free gas, which octane ratings, address of locations & phone# of those locations.
I do know WalMart Murphy station in Weatherford sells 87 ethanol free fuel for the closest one to Stephenville or I think there may be a location in Dublin Tx west of Stephenville. Good luck & avoid ethanol problems period, by doing this.
PS: I have also started running it in my Chevy pickup that I tow with. Better fuel mileage empty & towing.
