Best Prop for Yamaha 250 HPDI - Ranger 521 - 09/17/17 03:51 AM

What prop do you recommend? I am running a T1 25pitch 15 1/8 - do you think I would get any benefit from the 27 pitch T1 or new T2 props?

thanks

You would lose your hole shot but may pick up some speed on top end after getting it on pad. It would struggle to get on pad with that high of pitch prop. IMO

I run a 521 and I went down to a 24 pitch Tempest Plus for a quicker hole shot but I run a Pro XS 250 and always have 2 people or a live well full of water/fish.

I lost 4 mph on the change but saved a lot of fuel on hole shot time. A slow hole shot is one of the biggest killers of a 2 stroke engine. Lugging it down is not good.

If you fish alone you may could get by with a 26 but not sure about a 27 that is a load to pull on a big boat. IMO I assume you are running a SHO so that is a different animal all together so who knows.

Take your T1 to Steve's custom props, They will balance and blue print it to your boat and motor. They do great work.
