It's a pretty expensive repair. There was someone within the last year that found a shop in Oklahoma city that did his at about 1/2 the cost of repairs around here. Was enough of a savings to make the drive worthwhile.
Yes it is, and good fiberglass shops are reluctant to replace transoms due to the time involved. They can do several hull repairs in the same time as one transom replacement.
