2004 - 250 Yamaha HPDI and Seafoam - 10/01/16 11:52 AM
Hey folks, my buddy purchased a nice used Ranger with this Yamaha. The motor sat for quite a few years. He has been running it for a year I guess. Just was wondering if you find it a good idea to start running some Seafoam through it? I have little experience with these products, thanks for the info.

Some people swear by it. I had a Yammie 2 stroke that I ran Seafoam in the entire time I had it and it had no effect at all. Even after having the carbs cleaned, it never ran right. On the other hand, I have a buddy who claims it brought back a couple of motors from near death. As long as the motor starts, runs good and idles with no lean sneeze, I would just keep fresh gas in it and go. I would use whatever the manufacturers suggests to keep carbon buildup minimal and go with it. JMHO.

I would strongly suggest that if any boat , especially a 2 stroke, has been sitting for any length of time I would take it to a certified technician for a complete checkup
