like a transom saver? I would think they are pretty universal? I found one at lake benbrook a few months ago, if youre anywhere near fort worth you can have it

I believe that a transom saver and motor holder are different. A transom saver attaches to the trailer and a motor holder usually fits over the trim rods. I am interested in a motor holder rather than a transom saver.

I use a Motormate on my motor and have been very happy with it.

Question... do these only work if you have hydraulic steering or will they work on any set-up? I have a 92 Mariner still using cable steering.

BPS has them, as does West Marine and a few others. I prefer them over transom savers.

Motor mate is the way to go and you can use it on either type steering.

I saw a video on another forum that a guy mounted a camera focused on his motor and transom while he was towing down the road. He had a motor holder and the video showed a lot of movement and flexing. It convinced him to do away with the motor holder and use the transom saver. It convinced me too.

I have always used the transom saver. Never had any issues.

I went to the motor mount style and believe that it has caused additional wear to the bushings on my 225. Saw a lot more movement when hauling. Went back to a transom saver

if it doesn't relieve the strain on the transom, why use it? if the brace doesn't transfer the flex of the transom to the trailer or some other stable brace, how does it divert force?
