Patching Chip in Boat

Patching Chip in Boat - 02/15/15 08:13 PM

While cleaning my boat I noticed a small chip of gel coat missing from the keel. It is about the size of a dime and I couldn't remember the name of the product to repair it. Anyone know of an over the counter do it yourself fix for this?

Thanks, do you know if it comes in different colors?

i think only white and grey. might be better off getting a gel coat kit from the auto supply if you have to match a certain color.

If its not bad and is white you can use a tub and shower repair kit. I touched up all the nicks on my boat last year using this one. Worked great and has held up great.

It is much easier to work than marine tex. I used some of it to plug a transducer hole and that stuff is a mess to work with. Make sure you put painters tape all around the area, apply, then sand it down. That goes for both products.

The marine tex would probably be the better product but like I said if it is just a chip that kit will work well.
