Merc 135 Optimax or Suzuki 140 four stroke on a 21' Shallow Sport

Merc Optimax 135 or Suzuki 4 stroke 140, 21' Shallow Sport

I think I have my search narrowed down, but would still like to get additional opinions berfore I make the move. The boat is a 21' Shallow Sport. How do the two compare at hole shot and wot? Price wise, they are real close, so performance and dependability are the key. Merc is running a 5 yr warranty right now and Suzuki offers 6.

Just my opinion, but I have run a 150 Suzuki for several years until I got a Yamaha recently, and I had a lot of expense just about every year on maintenance...cleaning/adjusting carbs, etc.
I think you will have much less maintenance on the Merc overall. The Suzuki seems to be very "sensitive" and requires more upkeep.
