1985 Merc 175 - port side not firing at idle - 12/28/13 10:25 PM
Idling low and surging. WOT and acceleration are fine along with mid-range. I tested at the house and 2, 4, & 6 have no fire at idle. I am thinking power pack since it is the whole bank.

Could be stator or trigger also.

Gary, I was also thinking trigger since it is original. I had a stator go out and it just dropped my RPMs to 2000 max. Do stators have a high / low side?

Switch box is bad trigger controls 2 xylinders 1 on each side the switch boxes control each bank so if you have for on all three on stbd and non on port or vise versa switchbox is bad and I would rec changing them both any questions feel free to give me a call

Looks like a stator. Side that is not firing at idle tested at 10.1 ohms and the other was 4.5.

If it is still connected is reading resistance of switch box as well

I disconnected the leads from the stator.

Update, stator killed all fire to outer box. Box itself was dead on #4. New stator and new box and I now have big time fire.
